Quoting limited to 3 levels deep
It is. Expensive as eff
It's not often that Reykjavík is the less expensive out of two options
True that. I spent a fortnight in 5 days there.

Watch a bit of Norwegian football, they have been more inconsistant this season dometically but they have a very experienced squad. They also have more firepower this season. They added Soderlund who will prove a handful. They also knocked Ajax out of Europe last season and drew with Zenit. They should have beat us in the home leg last season, they missed 3 absolute sitters. We need to Strengthen to give ourselves a better chance. There best player Helland was also injured last season for the tie and will probably play this season against us.

We will negotiate these ties in a fairly straightforward manner imo, its the following two rounds that worry me
At what point is european football guaranteed (Europa League)?
Probably if we get knocked out at final qualifying round - we would have a playoff for EL, if we get ko’d in Playoff we should be in group stage.

Seems like the penny is dropping with a good few just how difficult this is going to be.

Welcome lads. This is the way a lot of us have been since this pish was announced in August 2016.
TBF most of us all knew how difficult 4 two legged ties was going to be, added in with the travelling, lack of a good break, WC & some opponents being in the league games already.

Was never going to be straight forward, especially with Rogic, Lustig & Boyata at the WC - who would be considered definite starters with severe lack of replacement players in those positions.

:twitch:

CB & RB an absolute must!!

I wonder what strategy Rodgers will use for our WC players.

Bring them straight into the squad and into these important games, especially considering they will still be sharp, and then giving them a rest later in the season. Or to let them have time off immediately and bring them back for August.

Not content with drenched underwear over on the transfer (or lack thereof) thread, it's broken out here today. Yes I know it's the CL and that's where the big boys play, but look in the mirror and recognise we are one of the bigger boys!

All three teams will be thinking the draw could have been a whole lot kinder to them than pairing them against Celtic FC

I was at their Supercup game vs IBV, which they won 2-1. They are skillful and neat--like to work the ball around and seem happy to be patient if there's nothing on. Not the sort of team to just punt it and hope. They all seemed comfortable in possession. A "modern" side, if you will.

That said, we do the same but much faster than they do.

I think Rosenborg will be slight favorites, but I wouldn't write Valur off entirely.

Here are the goals from that game. IBV were pretty poor, though they did score a thunderbastard.

This'll be a breeze. People's judgement on the difficulty of the qualifiers has been clouded, thanks to years of penny pinching. For the first time in a long time, we appear to be going in with an actual team and not a makeshift one.

So inconsistent this year- 7 points off the lead- imagine how shampoo we would be if we were in that situation- but they have brilliant players with even better ones due back soon and should have actually beat us last season.

Not sure we should turn up.

Not sure on the first team, armenia will be a horrible place to go. Although they could be stronger from a year on rosenborg, as has been said we played without a striker last year which was massive and we did very well to get through. Feel we need to strength defensively to give ourselves our best, but we're in a better position this time around.

Why would Lustig and Rogic not be available for the second round? Chances are they won’t get out the groups and they’ll have more almost months rest.

True, and to be expected because we are the seeded team.

But playing Rosenborg in the second qualifying round of a potential four, in what will be only our third and fourth competitive games of the season when they are already well underway with theirs, is all a bit :twitch:

Do I think we will get through...yes. Am I happy with the draw...no. Where is the problem in saying that?
