€5 million if you get knocked out in the final knock out game of the champions league.

€2.92 million for entry into the Europa.

With €570,000 for a win and €190,000 a draw. Then €1 mill for winning the group or half that for runner up.

So making the final play-off round is extremely important no matter the outcome as we could net estimated €10 million with a few wins in the Europa group. About a quarter of what we could earn in the champions league.

Even those in the SPF(Hel)L will make more money this year from us (assuming we qualify for the UCL)

Have we ever qualified for the Champions League 3 years in a row? :ponder: :twitch:

EDIT: Just checked, looks like we did under Lennon and Strachan

I see Bert has the following for Round 1.

"For the draw of the 1st round the 34 teams are divided into 1 group of 10 teams and 2 groups of 12 teams.
The draw for the 2nd qualifying round is made before the results of the preliminary round and the 1st qualifying round are known. Clubs of the preliminary round and the 1st qualifying round are seeded by the highest ranking of the clubs involved."

I would suggest we are in line for one of the following:

Vikingur
Crusaders
Suduva
Cork City
Spartaks Jurmala
Valur

Touch wood, this should be straight forward enough.

We definitely did under Strachan - 06/07, 07/08, 08/09. I think we only got two in a row under Lennon?

I'm new. Be gentle.
Suduva please....memories of 2003!

I remember being absolutely gutted when we were papped out the Champions League in qualifier round by Basle. Only for Suduva to come along and be the first step in our run that year to Seville.

Cork would do me too as I go there with work and that'll suit me nicely.

We auto qualified for a while .Not sure when that ended. In fact didn't Scotland have two auto qualifiers for one or two seasons?

Really? I can't recall us playing in the CL at the same time as the Huns :ponder:

EDIT: Was it us and Hearts maybe? Just for the one season though...and they got papped out at Murrayfield in a qualifier? :suspect:

Maybe not two auto qualifiers ( though i think we might have had that back in the day) but we have both been in CL league stages a few times . 2007 was one.

With 2 successful qualifying campaigns behind us our squad will be better placed hopefully to deal with these games.

We’ve dealt with the pressure really well, even though it doesn’t feel like it at the time.

A flying Dembele and back to form Sinclair will be a massive help.

They’ll all be absolutely desperate to get to group again.

(Sorry, just putting random thoughts out there)

I absolutely remember both us & the Huns in the group stages of the CL in the same year.
One of the first UK cities to do so, not even London had much more success than us back then.
Might've been the same year as Arsenal & Chelsea did it for the first ever time?

Something like that anyway. Citeh were a blink on the horizon, as were Spurs.
Quite funny to think about now...

@pablo - Some of the same teams will be seeded in QR3 and unseeded in QR4 (Burnley, Partizan etc.) and they'd all wipe the floor with the huns. I'd be amazed if they made the group stages. Their best bet is probably to remain unseeded and beat a big-ish name in QR3 and take over their seeded spot for QR4. This is who they'd then face (obviously this is if all games except theirs go to the seeded team), and I can't see them beating any of them.

Maccabi Tel-Aviv
Feyenoord
Rapid Wien
RB Leipzig
Partizan Belgrade
Burnley FC
NK Rijeka
Atalanta
Molde FK
Girondins Bordeaux
FC Ufa
Apollon Limassol
Sturm Graz
Wonder if they get fined for every banner their fans show?*

Remember they beat Lyon(?) and David Edgar was all over Sky Sports News boasting we wouldn't match their achievement etc only for us to go the next night and beat AC Milan the reigning champions. And them postponing a game against Gretna to prepare for their last group match. Which they lost. :lmao:

That coupled with them needing replays in the cup led to them requesting a league extension to the already extended league that year

There was more than one year when we both played in the CL. Some times league winners qualified automatically and runner up had to qualify. Sometimes both had to qualify - I remember the time we beat some Russian mob on penalties at CP. Deidco had some Danish or Swiss mob IIRC. Even though we won the league to qualify we had a far harder draw with that Russian mob due to the random draw.
