Of course none of it might matter if, as barrybhoy said, FIFA suspend Greece completely.
Who does that throw into hat for play-off's seeding wise.

I'm ok if Greece stay in as both AEK & PAOK are below Celtic seeding wise, so if either win league then we're safe. If Greece thrown out then???
If Greece is suspended, or Olympiakos don't win the league then it will pretty much ensure that we'll be seeded in the Playoff round - barring someone like Seville winning the Champions League, or Basel/Copenhagen making a miraculous league recovery. The access list will have to be modified to balance the qualifying rounds out if the Greeks are suspended (as it will have to be if the Czech champion automatically qualifies for the group stage, as is likely). It's all a bit up in the air just now.
:hmmm:

<heads over to Follow Follow to start an unfounded rumour that 2nd place in the SPFL will get a run at the CL qualifiers if Greece get binned>

It's the hope that kills them :chuffed:

Time for an update.

It's looking increasingly likely that we'll be seeded in all 4 qualifying rounds now. With Basel and Copenhagen way back in their leagues, and Olympiakos 9pts back in Greece (unless they win their appeal), it would require all of Plzen, Salzburg, PSV and Ludogorets to win their leagues and reach the playoff. But Plzen are likely to go straight into the group stage, unless someone like Seville (or perhaps Roma) win the CL and don't qualify via their league. (Disclaimer: This all assumes that we win our league and reach the playoff ourself).

How things look for the qualifying rounds based on current standings, and the assumption that Plzen won't need to qualify.

Playoff

The likes of Legia, Maribor, APOEL and Progres Niederkorn could all still feature to make things tougher.

The good news is that on current standings, Pot 3 is looking possible. We'd need 8 teams to be ranked below us. Current standings show Leipzig, Inter, Spartak Moscow, Brugge & Galatasaray in position to qualify, but also below us. We'd need 3 more teams ranked below us for Pot 3. (Lokomotiv Moscow are winning in Russia. Although ranked below us they'd probably be Pot 1, unless UEFA changes that rule). But if the EL winner also qualifies automatically for the CL group stage, the 3rd place French team moves into the group stage without qualifying. That would be Marseille on current standings. Also ranked below us. That's 6 of 8 required. We'd be on the edge of Pot 3. A couple of changes, or the right teams knocked out of qualifying, and we might get lucky.

As always, lots could still change.

A couple of dodgy looking ties in there, but overall, the way its looking at the moment we shouldnt be scared of any of those potential teams.

Olympiakos bin Oscar Garcia as manager. The appeals from them and PAOK will be held next midweek, which means AEK might secure the title off the pitch, as a result of the decisions. Greek football is mental.

That Olympiakos out of the running to win their league, only AEK or PAOK can win it now (most likely AEK), so Bhoys seeded all play-off rounds now

Cheers M67 for sharing your extensive research on this. If it goes the way of these projections we'll have as good a chance of qualify as we've had the last 2 seasons more or less. All the names look familiar from the last couple of seasons.
Would be great to get 3IAR CL money but the board will have to spend some cash if we are to try to avoid the terrible humpings we've been getting.
A centre half, a right back and a left back. And get Bain signed up on a permanent deal. This is the absolute minimum and we should be ready to spend big - by our standards - on the centre half and right back.

We're not quite there yet. Almost, but not quite. Basel, Salzburg, Ludogorets, PSV and Plzen could all still be ahead of us.

Of course, Basel are miles back in Switzerland - 13 back with 5 games to play. So it'd take a miracle for them to win the league. But we'd then still be relying on this years CL winner qualifying for the group stage from their league to ensure Plzen go straight into the group stage. Madrid, Munich and probably Liverpool should be safe. Roma are 3rd in Italy, but only 1pt clear of 5th. So as long as Roma don't win the CL (or Liverpool if they implode in the league) we should be good.

So yeh. Just about there.

Incredible that AEK are celebrating winning the Greek title, but could still have it taken away from them. The disciplinary committee are to hear PAOK's appeal against their punishment for the owner running onto the pitch against AEK. If they win the appeal PAOK would be only 2pts behind with 2 games to play. Greek football is mental.

I believe that today's result means that we have a better chance of being seeded in all rounds of qualifying. Could be wrong though.
