Everything alright with Griff? I've heard some horrid rumours recently about him and his Instagram posts seem to indicate he's going through some tough times. Hope I'm wrong though and he just picked up a knock

His Twitter said on Tuesday he'd been in hospital having a few scans and that he was looking forward to rejoining training on Thursday.

Came here to post the same thing. Mental illness is no joke, and that's the impression that I was getting off his instagram. Hope he's alright.

To any dinosaurs out there who are thinking 'man up', it's exactly that kind of attitude that's led to suicide becoming the biggest killer of young men in Scotland.

It's pretty much the same attitude as calling people dinosaurs.
Anyway, I'm sure he'll be fine - no need for the outburst. No one has said anything of the sort.

Would you not be better waiting till somebody said Man Up , before you picked a fight.

Makes you look a bit daft.

Injury and form has disrupted consistency of striker selection. But what has that done to striker consistency of performance? I compare Dembele, Edouard, Griffiths and Sinclair.

LEIGH GRIFFITHS has been under the weather recently — but he’s desperate to end the season on cloud nine.

Celtic star Griffiths is staring at the final few days of a campaign that has been more stop-start than he would have liked.

Niggling calf problems have been his biggest issue.

But after shrugging off those injuries, Griffiths was then left hospitalised by an infection and tonsillitis last week.

Despite social media trolls claiming he was out after he’d failed a drugs test, that was the real reason for the Scotland star missing the last few games.

Griffiths will be in the squad for Sunday’s trophy day clash with Aberdeen.

But his place in the team for next week’s Cup Final is in doubt as he’s still feeling zapped of energy after losing weight while ill.

The 27-year-old said: “I’m still a bit under the weather.

“But I’ve been given medicine from the hospital to take and I’m sure it will pass.

“There are only a couple of games still to go, and then I can have a proper rest.

“I didn’t even feel rough. I don’t know what it was. I think it was just a really bad infection.

“It was taking its toll, and that’s when the doc called me and told me to get to a hospital, and I was admitted overnight.

“They did various tests on me, but they came back all clear, and I just wanted to get out so I could return to training and playing.

“It all really affected my energy levels, though, and I still feel physically weak.

“I also lost a lot of weight, and I’m finding normal training sessions a bit hard.”

Griffiths has three years left on his Hoops contract, but hopes to secure a longer-term deal.

He added: “Things are still ongoing. I’m hoping there will be a bit of news before the season is out.

“I am not sweating over it. I’m still looking to commit my long-term future to Celtic, but these things are never easy, it takes time.

“We need to iron out every detail, but I’m hoping it will be done before the season is out.

“I’m happy with my football here. When I am playing and scoring goals there is no place I’d rather be.”

After the Dons, there’s the small matter of a Scottish Cup Final.

If they beat Motherwell at Hampden next Saturday, Celts will make history with a double Treble.

With Odsonne Edouard definitely out, Rodgers kept Moussa Dembele in cold storage for the 0-0 draw with Killie in midweek.

Dembele look set to return against the Dons on Sunday, and it could be between the Frenchman and Griffiths for a starting role against Well.

He did pick up a trophy at Hampden yesterday — which was largely based on his unforgettable exploits there 11 months ago in the 2- draw with England.

His two magnificent free kicks for Scotland against England last June made Griffiths the toast of the Tartan Army.

Those stunning strikes saw him collect the Scottish Football Writers’ Association International Player of the Year, in conjunction with William Hill.

Griffiths just wishes he’d been fit enough to contribute more to club and country.

He would also have loved for his strikes to have helped Scotland reach the World Cup Finals.

Instead, he and the rest of the squad will again be looking on as things unfold in Russia next month.

As he reflected on that day against the Three Lions, the reaction and the award, Griffiths said: “Obviously I haven’t been able to play to my full potential this season, so it’s nice to pick up this award.

“It’s been frustrating for me, I’d rather miss games through illness than injury.

“But since I’ve been available to train again I haven’t missed a session, and that’s credit to the medical team and the specialists I’ve had to see to fix this problem.

“People still come up to me and mention those two goals against England.

“We deserved the three points that afternoon, and we didn’t get them. But I still feel it helped us kick on after that.

“We had a job to do that day at Hampden.

“We had to emulate the way we played against England in the game at Wembley.

“It was good to give the Scotland fans something back at the end of a campaign which had not been great.

“We got the win over Slovenia last March, and then we were looking forward to June and it was a must-win game with England.

“They were massive favourites. They were tipped to put us away just as they did at Wembley.

“But we showed what we were about, and we were 30 seconds away from getting a huge win.

“We then kicked on from there and got some big results.”

BRENDAN Rodgers is hopeful that Leigh Griffiths will be back to his best for Celtic next term after a clean-up operation during the summer.

Griffiths has spent long spells on the sidelines with injuries during the 2017/18 campaign and has failed to scale the heights of previous seasons.

But the 27-year-old will miss the Scotland summer tour of Peru and Mexico because he is to undergo surgery and Rodgers is optimistic he will be transformed by the procedure.

“It’s been unfortunate for him this year with injury, illness and bits and pieces,” he said. “It’s probably been frustrating, but hopefully that will get tidied up and he’ll be back, fit and raring to go for pre-season.”

Is that even more surgery in the summer now? Thought that last lay off with his hamstring was supposed to sort everything out. That could be a worry with the qualifiers in mind.

I certainly wouldn't be giving him a new contract until his injury record is sorted out.

I'm a huge fan of Griffiths but I have to agree. His value to the squad lies in his ability to always grab us a goal against most levels of opposition but he can't very well do that if he's forever on the treatment table. Hopefully Brendan is right and this is sorted once and for all this summer.

If he wants to be here he should be getting a new contract. It wouldn't be on improved terms for me - and if it was it would be bonus based for appearances/goals.
