Griffiths scores goals and has a gallus streak that we miss badly when he’s not available.
Look forward to being able to bring him and Roberts on against the zombies when we are 5 up with half an hour to go!
These are the bhoys who will get us to 10

Hope that decision is taken out his hands. None of our players should be going on those trips.

Going on that trip then starting training for a 10 month run 3 weeks later isn’t going to help the calf issue.

Think that attitude is why the Scotland fans liked him more than the fans who paid his wages.

Aye, cos that'll be happening right enough.

I actually don't normally mind McFadden's analysis compared to Commons and Boyd, but if he has said that then he's made a complete arse of it.

If Griffiths does not go to Peru and Mexico because he and Celtic come to an arrangement based on his required rest prior to very early CL qualifiers and the fact he's had mounting injuries, then any braindead attempt from McLeish and Co to not select them thereafter will have predictable results. Good luck playing Phillips up front longer term, or a coterie of Oliver McBurnie types.

That goes for Armstrong, McGregor and Tierney too. The first two were among the best players Scotland had in the last two games. Tierney represents the best they have, and Griffiths is clearly the best (only?) striker they have. Add in Gordon being the best keeper, and you've got half a team. Not even including the promise shown by Hendry and Christie, and Forrest's continued role in the team.

Celtic will probably come to an arrangement whereby they might see it as beneficial for certain players like Hendry, Christie and maybe even McGregor to go on that tour, The rest? Not so much.

Who the eff in their right mind would organise a a couple of nothing meaningless matches in the close season on the other side of the world ?

Incompetent blazer wearing junket grabbing sneering condescending arse wipes, that’s who.

To be honest, the game time might actually be good for him. He's been out a while, he could come back raring to go for the qualifiers. The best thing Larsson did was go to Euro 2000, while this situation isnt exactly comparable, a couple of extra games could do Griffiths the world of good.

I'd love if no celtic players ever played for scotland again. Loser mentality isn't good for them imo. Plus Alex McLeish

So would I.

In this particular instance, it might not be a bad thing for Griffiths. Just like Armstrong playing last week was good for his fitness. Pretty much every other Scottish player for us shouldnt be going though.

The travelling involved would negate any gains he'd get from playing as he wont be getting 90 mins anyway

Do you not want any Celtic players to play for their country at all, or is it just the Scottish players?

If it were me, I’d want to go for the friendlies. But then I’d mostly be interested in a free trip to Mexico and Peru.

Id play him. Least we might sneak a goal from a set piece if he's on.

brendans comments the other day seemed to suggest he was happy for griffiths and get some games

Quote:

LEIGH GRIFFITHS has revealed he wants to stay at Celtic for LIFE after opening new contract talks.

The Hoops striker’s current deal runs until 2021, but he is keen to commit for even longer.

Griff, 27, joined Celtic in January 2014, and would love to follow Scott Brown and spend a decade at Parkhead.

Griffiths said: “My representatives are working behind the scenes to try and get me a new deal.

“It is early stages now, but hopefully we can get it done sooner rather than later.

“I have another two and a half years left but why would you want to go anywhere else? You’re playing at a top club with a top manager in front of 50,000 or 60,000 every other week.

“There’s no reason to go anywhere. You have Champions League football every season.

“It’s hard to get there now, but when you do get there, those are memorable nights.

“Hopefully it we can come to an agreement, I’ll not be far off Broony.

“I think he has deserved his testimonial. The type of guy he is, he is deserving of everything he gets.”

Griffiths was at Wolves before he signed for Celts, and would have no shortage of offers from England if he was made available.

The Hoops hitman has shot down suggestions he has stayed in Scotland because he can’t cut it down south.

Griffiths added: “Everybody keeps mentioning I was put off in England and came back up the road because I was scared.

“But if you look at the records, I still finished joint top scorer when I left Wolves in January.

“Fair enough, we were in the Premier League, and I got put on loan.

“But that stood me in good stead for going back down. I had a good crack at it when I went back down, but when Celtic come calling you do not reject it.”

Meanwhile, Scotland striker Griff has revealed how he ended up flying an Irish tricolour in the stands after Celtic’s 3-2 Old Firm win at Ibrox.

He said: “Some guy handed it to me. It was just one of those things. It wasn’t intentional.

“I just wanted to show everybody how happy I was the team got the three points.

“You want to go to your fiercest rivals and show what a good team you are.

“Being injured, you aren’t involved on the pitch. But you want to make sure you enjoy it off the pitch too.

“I don’t think I am the only one. Kieran Tierney and other players go to the away games if they are out and mix with the fans. I am no different.

“It just so happens the one I went to was Ibrox. Maybe I got a wee bit carried away.

“But after the game you are happy your team has won and you have beaten your fiercest rivals. You want to go and celebrate with the fans.”
