Re Griff thought he was excellent last night. Not too fussed that he missed a chance. All strikers do. He changed the game and we are lucky to have him.

Griffiths is a very good striker in the SPFL. He flopped at Wolves and we should be aiming for higher.
12 goals in 26 league games, 13 in 31 games overall, and that's probably not 31 starts. Flop is very harsh.
He’s improved since then and the record wasn’t as you say terrible. You judge a player on what he’s doing with us otherwise we would have been saying 20 yrs ago we could do better than Henrik because you could say he was a flop with Feyenoord!I always defend Griffith on here ,not because i’m his greatest fan,but because I think the criticism on here is over the top.I would have Dembele as my no.1 but I think we’re lucky to have a player of his ability as a no.2.Of course he has flaws but so does everyone else in our team, otherwise they would be playing for barcelona and I think Griffiths flaws are highlighted more than most.We were 1-0 down at half time and he comes on improves the team and scores the winner and people on here are looking at his negatives. If he hadn’t scored the winner then his miss would have been a talking point. When we beat the Huns 6-2 under O’Neil how many talk about Larrsons miss at 3-0?People on here must be so happy with Brendan’s preferred first 11 if replacing a striker on the bench seems to be so important.People say we could do better and if we had £100M tv money I would agree but I can’t see us doing much better than Griffiths with our budget.

Btw for all the Griff v Moussa arguments aren't they separated by like 1 goal this season? Both have had quiet seasons by their standards.

Fantastic SPL striker, not good enough to be first choice in the CL (he's not the only one). Should be starting ahead of Eduoard.

Should start on Saturday but Hibs are the only top league side he hasn’t scored against.

Just saying Leigh, nae pressure.

This player certainly polarises opinions.
Only on here. I've never met a Celtic fan who doesn't like him.

I agree with you.Last season both were on fire and did well when they came in this year both have been below par.

Exactly. Same here. The amount of people who slate him on here as a profession but I've never had a discussion with anyone in the real world who has been so vocal and persistent in their stance about his flaws as a player/the need to sell him if a bid comes in/his off field doings/why he should be second choice to Dembele...

For a variety of reasons they have not been as explosive as last season.

We’re not financially in the position to buy CL players.Ironically the one time we did have a team full of what could be described as CL players, under MON,we never qualified for the last 16.When we beat Man U to qualify we had Telfer,McManus and Naylor in defence, and Sno in midfield and when we beat Barca we had a central defence of Wilson and Ambrose! We’ve probably got better players now but our tactics aren’t right in CL.

It's more down to game time than anything else.

The problem for me is the rotation.

Griffiths has played 1717 minutes this season and averages a goal every 156 minutes.
Dembele has played 1102 minutes this season and averages a goal every 137 minutes.
Edouard has played 641 minutes this season and averages a goal every 160 minutes.

If any of the three are given a sustained run their numbers - which aren't actually bad - will improve again.

He has been a great signing. Can be an incredibly frustrating player, but there is simply no arguing with 96 goals in 169 starts.

The 100 will be up for him soon. For a million quid and reasonably controlled salary outlay, the value for money we have had from this signing has been nothing short of excellent.

I've seen them all since Charlie Nicholas. Griff is 2nd only to Larsson. And like Larsson he shows the class to tuck away a goal after missing a chance. How many goals did Leigh Griffiths score the season before last? The guy is pure quality.
Fecking hell. :o
Wondered on to this thread this morning and I had the exact same reaction as Wailer.

Anybody who saw Nicholas first time round and thinks Lee is a better player I personally can't fathom but each to their own opinion.

Off the top of my head he isn't better than McClair/Johnston (Petit Merde variety)/McAvennie/Sutton/Bellamy and Hartson was a much more clinical finisher than Lee.

Agree that we aren't in a position to buy the players required; I would also say that the two games you mention, despite a heroic effort from the team, we had quite a bit of luck, too.
