Have any of our players in recent times who have gone on loan in Scotland made it with us as first team regular?

It seems like a bit of an graveyard for potential Celtic careers, contrast that with Tierney, Maloney, McGeady, McManus who were all developed via first team exposure.
More recent times, it’s helped McGregor and Ajer.
I'm not sure how much it helped McGregor.

When he was first in the team he was rotten (albeit playing out of position). I think more exposure to first team games at Celtic pushed him on.

Aye, looks ruined now tbh. He didn't do the hard work, now his heid is too big for lower leagues. Maybe he wasn't going to be that good anyway but it seems like his biggest contribution to football will be a cautionary tale they tell academy players at Halloween.

Strange one IMO

We have Rogic, Armstrong, Ntcham, McGregor, Christie returning etc etc that can play the AMC spot - if we are going to strengthen it should be with someone that are better than those, don't see Morgan as such

he can play out wide, isn't better than Forrest IMO, not anywhere near the quality of Roberts - If/when Roberts is leaving we would have Forrest with Morgan as backup, as good as Forrest has been this season, it is a serious downsizing of the team

Morgan is hardly a kid anymore, will be 22 when he joins in the summer, he would need regular football to progress not to sit on the bench only playing when Forrest is out injured or we have 3 of the players that can play AMC out

--

that said hoping that he will blow everybody away and progress to becoming a class player

This I was of the same thought!

Still on chelsea's books, bout 29 by now. Eden hazard's good form is keeping him out the team. And the 50 other attacking players ahead of him.

What’s the story there? Haven’t heard anything about him for years (or so it seems) - where he at? :ponder: p

I’ve heard of Morgan but not seen him.£300000 is hardly even a gamble. If Tierney hadn’t come through the ranks and a young Tierney had been playing for St Mirren and we were linked to him the comments about signing him would probably be the same as the comments about signing Morgan.

Considering retirement

I wonder if Hayes’ injury means we won’t bother loaning him back to St Mirren.

We are pretty limited with only 3 first team wingers. Especially when Roberts only plays on the right and likewise Sinclair on the left. Only got Jamsie to cover both positions.

Think we'll take him to Dubai and get a good look at him over a couple of weeks before deciding what to do if it's done soon.

St Mirren manager Jack Ross says there will be clarity about Lewis Morgan's future in the next week, with the winger expected to join Celtic.

The fee for the Scotland under-21 international will be around £300,000, with Morgan likely to remain on loan to the Championship club this season.

"He's had a big decision to make, in terms of potential suitors," Jack said.

"There will be announcement or final confirmation of his decision within the next seven days."

Morgan is out of contract in the summer, but the player and the club have been keen to agree a deal during the January transfer window.

The 21 year old has been the subject of interest from various clubs, but is thought to be keen to work with Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers.

"Lewis could have allowed his contract to run down, but he's handled [the situation] very well, and when he gets the opportunity to progress his career he's more than capable of dealing with it," Ross said.

"Unless something really dramatic changes, that will remain the situation [that he stays at St Mirren on loan this season].

"I have to credit my chairman and board for that, because I was quite strong as the manager that I wanted him to remain until the end of the season because he's such an important player. They could have overruled me and perhaps increased the money they receive for him. But they have been very supportive.

"It was always a prerequisite that he come back and play for us, and Lewis has been quite strong on that as well because he's grateful to St Mirren for giving him the opportunity after he left Rangers and he would like to finish his time with us by achieving success."

Spoke to a mate yesterday who’s a St. Mirren season ticket holder - can’t speak highly enough of this lad, convinced he’ll make it to the top. Hope that’s the case, as opposed to joining the litany of those whose potential goes unrealised.

It was last year he was at Swindon. He must be back at Chelsea now.

He's made a total of 23 appearances in 4 years worth of loans, scoring 0 goals. Most of these appearances have come from the bench.

I hope for his sake he's saved some money, because football ain't going to be paying the bills for him in the near future.
