I like it. Feel like we should take a punt on 1 or 2 of these types of players every year.

I agree with this.
However, playing devils advocate here.... how many of these pick ups have actually worked out?
Not the likes of buying Armstrong or Hartley, but purchasing a youngster from another Scottish club for a small fee.

Tony Watt probably the most high profile of these pick ups? Rest seem to fade away (Unless I'm too hung over to remember).

Note: I'm not saying just because there isn't a high success rate of doing this we shouldn't.
Unlike the stellar Tony Watt?

I like. One of the better young players in the country for not a great outlay.

Radio Scotland saying deal should complete in a day or two but loanback may be as long as 18 months if St Mirren secure promotion this season
we are doing a Man City on him, aren't we

buy the guy, put him out on loan, sell him for £40m without him having played for us

If I was you I would be emailing Celtic to express your displeasure that they are signing someone you know nothing about.

18 month loan would be perfect if they secure promotion, if not Im sure he'll end up out at another SPL club next season. At his age its all about gametime and a season with the likes of Killie or Hibs would be of a lot more benefit than sitting on our bench looking on. Same goes for the likes of Ralston, Eboue, Benyu and Mikey Johnstone for the rest of this season

St Mirren buddy says he is a fine player but decision making at times slightly questionable. Pace and tricks as well as being direct and not afraid to make a run. He is a season book holder and said he has s by far best player in the championship.

Another project (i know) but the gaffer seems to be staying for the big push next few years on the back of this type of signing.

Exactly. So geez peace. He’s a very good prospect and comfortably better than most players in the spl. Hence us signing him.

Let's say we don't sign him. He would then undoubtedly be signed by an english championship team and if he did really well there we would need about 10million to buy him. Even if he was just average there he would still command a fee of 3/4 million. It's a small outlay, the boy has potential and it's therefore low risk. If he turns out to be a star then great, if not we haven't lost much.

Put this in the transfer window thread and reposting it here

My mate is a St.Mirren season ticket holder, so when im not at parkhead or working i go to some games with him. Morgans first full season was last year, swept PoY awards cause he was the only guy who performed even with alex rae as manager. Started this season on fire, like motm for the first 8/9 games. Since international break in oct hes not been as strong, although wouldn't be surprised if thats when rodgers showed his interest and hes let that get to him.

Pros: Very quick over 10yards, 2 footed (hits corners or long range shots with either), good strike on him, very good dribbler and close control. Strong for a wee guy.

Cons: shooting can vary widely in quality, apparently been poor since oct/nov (though i think this is do with speculation), can choose the wrong option a lot of the time.

From what ive seen/heard more potential than Kenny Mclean or John Mcginn when they came out of st.mirren, so defo worth the punt, but not the finished article.

Also apparently Brendan and Jack Ross have a close personal relationship which is probably why hes getting loaned back and talk of liam henderson going the other way (dont think that will or should happen)

So the lad is defo a center midfield type? No chance he could play out on the wing?
He's 100% a winger.

That's the media racking through his past, which will no doubt upset some.
We'll see how he copes with the "pressure" from the ones who see him as a "turncoat".

WHO ARE LEW? Lewis Morgan turned down Celtic and Rangers and has appeared in an Old Firm Hampden Final… here’s all you need to know about the St Mirren starlet
The Scotland Under-21 ace was a mascot in the 2009 Old Firm League Cup Final whilst a youth player at Ibrox

Couldn’t really care less who he supported as a boy (or even still as a man). It’s not as if we haven’t had boyhood Rangers fans who went on to become Celtic legends.

(Not that I’m necessarily expecting legend-status from this chap.)

Doesn't look particularly quick in the video.

Aside from that, don't know anything about him but I'd be surprised if a 22-year-old St Mirren player is going to improve us against CL opposition.

Guess we'll find out in time.
Exactly what I thought. He looked slow.
Question is where would they think he fits in?
To be fair though, I don't have a clue about this guy - only going on that wee snippet on Youtube.
