. But he could develop to be as important as us if he fulfils his potential. Losing Rogic would be a blow, and we'd be poorer for it, but it's a bigger risk paying big money for someone to replace him without knowing if they'll actually be good enough than to give a chance to a home grown talent who could develop well. Hopefully it doesn't come to pass and Rogic decides his future is with us, but we'd be daft not to be considering what to do should he goes, and I have no doubt the first option would be giving a chance to people at the club already
I'll disagree to nearly all of that, other than we should keep Tom. Christie can't now get a game for a very very poor Aberdeen. Rodgers has also had a look at Christie and twice farmed him out. I'd be far more surprised if Christie gets a game for Celtic next year, never mind replaces our most skilful player. Edit- The signings of Musonda, Hayes, Morgan and attempts at Roberts again will put him further down the pecking order. If in fact he can get any lower on it.
Who was the guy we signed from Ipswich again ? and , err , where is he ? Benyu.
On loan at Oldham til the end of the season. Made 4 starts, subbed in 3 of them.

Quoting limited to 3 levels deep
Not really Di Canio Lubo Naka Rogic None of them were big money signings and those are probably the 4 most gifted players we’ve had in the last 30years.
I get your point but the 3 players you mentioned weren’t around in the time of the basket case that is European football transfers that we have now (caused by that carrot sky and English football). We still plucked them from obscurity.
Di Canio wasn’t getting a game at Milan Rogic was at Central Coast Mariners Lubo - can’t remember who we signed him from - was it a French or Czech mob? St Ettiene or one of the Prague teams? Naka - Reggina
Again all clubs within our spending frame.
Even the players we’ve moved on for big bucks came from provincial clubs.
Obviously, it’s more difficult in the current market, but there’s still good players within our reach as we’ve proven time and time again, over the years.

Not sure if he was just there on loan, though, as it was a quick turnaround.

Spoiler: click to toggle Lewis Morgan insists he is going to Celtic to claim a place in Brendan Rodgers' team.
The 21-year-old clinched a £300,000 switch to Parkhead in January but was sent back to former club St Mirren to see out the season.
Now having been named Ladbrokes Championship player of the year after leading the Buddies' title charge, the new Scotland call-up is setting his sights on a starting slot with the double-treble winners.
Read more: Celtic closing in on permanent deal for striker Odsonne Edouard
Morgan knows the step-up from the Championship to potentially playing in the Champions League is huge but the confident playmaker is backing himself to make the leap.
"Since I signed a deal in January I've been champing at the bit to get going," he said after collecting his latest prize. "We have a few weeks off then we'll be ready to go for pre-season. I'm really looking forward to it.
"I've got to look up to guys likes Callum McGregor and James Forrest who've broken through here and become part of the first team.
"The manager has got an ethos of bringing through young players and making sure they're mainstays of his team. You can see how successful they have been and how many homegrown lads were part of that - that was definitely a selling point for me.
"Hopefully I can be the next one.
"That is definitely achievable. I wouldn't have signed otherwise. The manager's brought me here for a reason, so it's up to myself to get into the team.
"The boys have been doing so well and I need to respect the fact I might need to bide my time.
"But when my chance comes I need to take it."
Making the breakthrough at Celtic is easier said than done. The likes of Ryan Christie, Nadir Ciftci and Scott Allan have been forced to head out on loan to grab game time after slipping down Rodgers' pecking order.
But Morgan is adamant he can prove to his new boss he is worth keeping around.

"The first thing is for me to come back in for pre-season and get assessed from there," he said. "All being well going back out on loan won't be the case and I can kick on here.
"That is what is on my mind at the moment. I'm planning on coming back for the new season to make sure I get into the team."
If Morgan does force his way into Rodgers' plans he will be expected to make a contribution as the Hoops chase more glory following two straight clean sweeps.
But he reckons having a title win under his belt with St Mirren will help him cope with the demands at Celtic Park.
He said: "Winning the league with Saints was great for me. I took my game to the next level and having that winning mentality will be something I need when I come back here.
"Obviously I've gained experience in that aspect over the last year. At this club you need to be winning games and winning trophies so hopefully that will stand me in good stead."

Where can he play? He is right footed and predominantly plays on the left. A fair amount of the goals scored or chanced attempted I've seen from him tend to be him cutting in and getting shots away with his right foot.
Remains to be seen if there is more to his game. If he has I'd say he's now in the right place to develop that.

I always like this kind of signing. It's good for the game overall and is exactly the type of punt we should be taking.

Going by this, he can use both his right and his left.
I have to say, I thought he was left-footed when I saw him play - but I've only watched highlights of a couple of St Mirren games (and then only to see what the kid is capable of) so I'm about as much an authority on this as I am on quantum mechanics or Chinese literature.

Ken what you are saying but with more than seventy games a season and the subsequent injuries and loss of form that inevitably brings we have to keep an open mind. Some folks wanted just two strikers on board season just gone in example, I never believed Brendan thought that despite his intimation. I think we need four goalscoring forwards on board moving ahead.
The squad rules these days, an injury here or there and we are goosed in Europe, we need a stronger pool than we have been seeing.
