Hopefully he gets a chance in the first team. Certainly looks the part.

And tbf, I've always said if I was a player I'd never sign for that lot, but then you look at those that have played for both clubs despite supporting the other, once it's your livelihood I'm sure that all goes out the window and rightly so.

I still wouldn't sign for them though :ph43r:

How exactly do these type of deals work?

We've signed the boy - so presumably he's just earned a signing-on fee and a massive increase in wages? But we've also loaned him straight back to St Mirren. Will St Mirren continue to pay him his current rate of wages? Or will we now pay his wages (perhaps minus whatever St Mirren are currently paying him - they'll pay the rest?). Would seem strange if he was now earning much more for doing the same thing, playing with the same colleagues, playing in the same side. And it also begs the question why are we paying wages (if any at this end?) for a player who isn't playing for us? What if he picked up a serious injury? I remember we pulled out of the signing of Jaroslaw Fojut after we'd signed him on a pre-contract Bosman and he got injured. But this sort of deal is different.

These are all genuine questions by the way. I'm not having a dig at the transfer or the idea of loaning him back - just interested in how the logistics of these sort of deals work?

See to be fair. I'm good pals with an Irish boy that plays for an SPFL club. Two seasons ago his agent told him the huns were interested in him. He said he would utterly hate playing in front of the carrots but at the same time the difference it would make to his wages would be too hard to turn down.

Nothing ever came of it but I did understand where he was coming from. Especially if you're playing at a lower club and not earning much.

Saying that, he wasn't a Celtic fan. Man Utd, as many young Irish are these days.

Welcome to Celtic Lewis.

I would have liked him to have been involved with the club, the training and the other players rather than him focusing on gaining St. Mirren promotion.

I'm sure BR knows better than me, though.

Hope young Morgan makes it here. He looks the part. but I've a sense of being underwhelmed. Not in him, but the pursuance of this "projects" project. we've literally had so many over the past few years I've lost count.wonder what the %age rate is with any of these signed projects making the grade at Celtic. anyways.good luck to the Bhoy.
Not sure what the percentage is but you could count Ajer as one that seems to be working out, at least to the point of being able to play in the first team.
Christie seems to have improved at Aberdeen, Kouassi seems to have been unlucky with injury but that's ongoing.

Not all of these projects will end up first pick, but many of them will bring in a fee if sold on.
We can't ignore our own back yard, it's where we have the best chance of being ahead of the pack, we should be willing to speculate on any player we think might have promise or to put it another way, we shouldn't be letting any good players slip through the net.
It's something we absolutely have to get involved in but shouldn't impact on our first team signings.
Ajer had played over 100 first team games and had captained his club, he is very very level headed and mature, not comparable to benyu IMO. Eboue has made big moves to Russia and then Scotland from Africa at a young age, again showing a lot of self belief and maturity.

I think Morgan has shown up very well in these areas, of self belief, maturity, intelligence and 100+ first team games.

We have got a good one I think, I thought his presser was outstanding for a young guy. I really hope he no s down the ajer route of being a model pro, listening and biding his time, whilst working his are off and staying humble.

Very impressed.

Well that’s it. Love yourself or love money. It’s straightforward. The rest is just Nigel Farage/Thatcher decent honest hard working yadda yadda yadda.

Anyone that plays for the Huns is a cock. From here to eternity.

LEWIS MORGAN is inspired to make it big at Celtic after being branded too small by Rangers in 2013.

Morgan, 21, signed a four-and-a-half-year deal with the Hoops, who have loaned him back to St Mirren for the rest of the season.

The winger, who is 5ft 10ins and weighs just under 12 stone, spent eight years in the academy system at Rangers but they cut him loose when he was 17.

However, Morgan never lost faith in his ability and instead used the rejection as a spur to prove his critics wrong by starring for the Buddies, establishing himself in the Scotland Under-21 squad and earning a £300,000 move to Parkhead.

He said: “The Rangers head of youth at the time (Jimmy Sinclair) didn’t take a fancy to me at all. He put me back a year so I was playing with the younger age groups. Even at that, I was only playing 10 minutes here or there.

“I probably lost a couple of years at that club so I can’t wait to get started at this one, the biggest club.

Express Sport brings you our Celtic and Rangers combined XI ahead of their Scottish Premiership clash at Celtic Park tomorrow (12pm)

“Was I too slight? That was probably a factor. One of Rangers’ philosophies was that they wanted the biggest boys in the country at my age. It didn’t really work out for them, to be fair.

“I’ve always used it to motivate me and push me to prove people wrong. It’s got me to here so I’m delighted. Going to a club like St Mirren was great for me. It gave me the chance to kick on again.”

Morgan, who has scored 13 times for Championship leaders St Mirren this season, is adamant he doesn’t bear a grudge against Rangers given how his career has flourished.

The youngster is now firmly focused on the future at Celtic. He will start full-time at Parkhead in the summer and can’t wait to work under manager Brendan Rodgers, who was won over by the player’s pace and trickery over the last 18 months

Morgan added: “He is incredible and I’m looking forward to working with him and his backroom staff.

“You look at his portfolio. He has developed lots of young players who are similar to me. He had a few local lads at Liverpool and it was the same at Swansea.

“He likes to nurture local talent and that was one of the key things for me.”

After deciding Celtic was his best option, Morgan turned down the chance to move to Nottingham Forest – and weeks later Mark Warburton was given the boot as manager.

But the winger explained: “Mark’s departure didn’t really play a part in anything. By the time he was sacked I had already informed Forest this was where I wanted to come.

“As soon as I knew Celtic were interested that was game over.”

“I probably lost a couple of years at that club so I can’t wait to get started at this one, the biggest club.

On the TV and radio presser (posted a few pages back) at about 10mins he said (and I'm quoting from memory):
"The last couple of years I wasn't anywhere near my own age group. I was put down the year below and all that. so it was kinda coming to be honest. The last few years weren't enjoyable, the head of youth didn't take a fancy to me, but that's all behind me now and I'm happy to be joining a club like this that plays Champions League every year and is the most dominant team in Scotland."

So I don't think there's a great deal of nostalgia for his boyhood heroes there.

Hardly the first boyhood fan of theirs to sign for us. Came across as someone focussed on making the best of his football career, and in Scotland that means signing for the Hoops.

These days, whenever we play in Scotland there are always likely to be more Hoops fans in the opposing side anyway.
