Hope young Morgan makes it here. He looks the part. but I've a sense of being underwhelmed. Not in him, but the pursuance of this "projects" project. we've literally had so many over the past few years I've lost count.wonder what the %age rate is with any of these signed projects making the grade at Celtic. anyways.good luck to the Bhoy.
we're probably +£20 million on the projects in the last few years.

Was saying that the other day. Benyu, for instance, looked an exciting prospect in August and hasn't played since. More or less the same with Ralston. It's all good and well having projects, but at some point they need a run in the team to prove their worth.

Not sure what the percentage is but you could count Ajer as one that seems to be working out, at least to the point of being able to play in the first team.
Christie seems to have improved at Aberdeen, Kouassi seems to have been unlucky with injury but that's ongoing.

Not all of these projects will end up first pick, but many of them will bring in a fee if sold on.
We can't ignore our own back yard, it's where we have the best chance of being ahead of the pack, we should be willing to speculate on any player we think might have promise or to put it another way, we shouldn't be letting any good players slip through the net.
It's something we absolutely have to get involved in but shouldn't impact on our first team signings.

Taking it well...

It's all fine and well saying someone's career is different to that of a fan. That's true.

But at most, he'll play 180 competitive minutes of football for Celtic a week.

That leaves him 9,900 minutes a week where he has to live with his decision, that he will never, ever play for the team he supposedly supports/supported, and that he's now a dirty rat. Nothing can ever take that back.

Your last sentence Ess. sums my feelings up about this. I think Ajer has been thrown into the deep end due to circumstances of our regular CB's being p*sh. Hope he grabs his opportunity.
I could live with the numbers of projects which we've had and then disappeared into oblivion if we also had numbers ready to hit the ground running for the 1st team.

BFDJ , like the rest of us, has his faults. However, he was no' a bad player in his day and probably a decent judge of whether a young player has promising ability. He has, apparently, been raving on about Morgan for some considerable time, long before there were any whispers of his coming to Celtic. Brendan Rodgers has apparently singled him out for praise. The media spotlight was on the boy ahead of the championship top-of-the-table clash with Dundee Utd and holy eff he came out the hero of the match with two great goals.
We should have been pulling down buildings if necessary to sign this bhoy but thankfully that wasn't necessary. We have signed a fantastic talent and we have a great manager who recognises the ability Morgan has. His coming to Celtic is a great bit of business. I'm really over the effin moon about this.

I was on the stadium tour when this was happened, they had to quickly re-arrange parts of it. And some of our tour group got a couple of quick pictures with Morgan in the meeting room. Tour ended up taking nearly 2 hours due to this event. Pretty unusual stuff. Hope he pans out, he seemed happy to be wearing our shirt.

BFDJ has indeed praised this guy for a long time , over a year. He said right at the start that he was the type Rangers should be buying and there was always an undercurrent of " this guys great and would be cheap , i'd love to see him at Rangers' about his praise . Bet he's raging now !

Can someone explain the sesne in paying £300k to send him back, instead of just signing him on a pre contract? (I've read he is out of contract this summer).
that's what the huns would do.

it would also open up the chances of him being sold to someone else.
I think it's also good to keep money in Scotland.
Its £300k so clearly not a big issue, but he couldnt have been sold to another club if we'd signed him on a pre contract.

Hope he kicks on in the next few months. He stood out in last years Scottish Cup game to me. Being two footed is still rare even in todays modern game, really looking forward to seeing what Rodgers can bring out of him.

Having links with clubs like St Mirren and Killie - nearby, playing at a competitive level, record of producing talent - is an advantage that the club should be looking to make use of, both for acquiring talent from them and creating a space where our own youngsters can get first team experience. Ensuring that other clubs are getting something out of this is good for both the game itself and for maintaining the kind of relationships you need for this thing to work. We've struck up a lot of "partnerships" with various clubs in the past ~10 years, and sent a lot of players out on loan, but there isn't much point unless it's something that can be done consistently, and with consistent and reliable results.

From what I've seen and heard of Morgan, he seems like a very good talent. I get the impression that Rodgers has fairly high standards about the attitudes of his players, and if he has the right attitude for Rodgers I'm sure he's giving himself a great platform to build on.
