Alves is probably the slowest player in Scotland. Aye but he's got the highest ranking of any SPFL player on FIFA, probably what Commons bases his opinions on.

Quoting limited to 3 levels deep Spoiler: click to toggle Former Celtic midfielder Kris Commons has questioned the wisdom of the club signing German defender Marvin Compper.
The 32-year-old centre-back will join the Scottish champions in early January after signing a two-and-a-half year deal to move from Red Bull Leipzig.
But Compper will be ineligible for Celtic's Europa League tie against Zenit St Petersburg in February, having played in this year's Champions League.
"I find it strange Celtic have signed a defender who is 32," said Commons.
"When they are over 30, there are a few doubts in terms of 'how long have they got?' and their fitness levels. Is he going to be sharp enough? He is a big boy.
"He is not able to play in the Europa League, and I think that is where they need him. Go and get a centre-half who can take you to the next level.
"Hearts really put the fear into the Celtic back four last Sunday and it was the sort of performance that European teams do to Celtic, putting them under pressure.
"They played in all the wrong areas, and individual mistakes cost them, especially in central defence.
"There was evidence that a centre-half needs to come in, not necessary to play, but to put pressure on the players there. Dedryck Boyata, Jozo Simunovic, Erik Sviatchenko - they must be thinking 'I need to up my game and concentrate on what I am doing, with and without the ball'.
Dedryck Boyata in action for Celtic against Hearts Dedryck Boyata has been a mainstay for Celtic, but enters the final year of his contract this summer "Celtic need an experienced defender for European competition, but this guy coming in is not eligible to play in Europe. And he is 32. How long is he going to play? Three years? If he doesn't hit the ground running, they are going to be looking for a new centre-half in the summer.
"I think they need to go for a player who is playing at a good level of football, who is between 25 and 28, that has good experience and knows what the club is all about. He can play in Europe and slot straight into the team. Compper is 32, going on 33, so there has got to be a slight risk there."
Manager Brendan Rodgers said on Thursday that he hopes to add "one or two more" new players in time for Celtic's warm-weather training camp starting on 6 January, when Compper will join up with the squad.
BBC Scotland understands Rodgers may try to sign a second centre-half, with Boyata, 27, entering the final year of his contract in the summer, and no guarantee the Belgian will sign a new deal.
Simunovic, 23, signed a new deal in September, but there has been speculation that Celtic could let Sviatchenko, 32, leave in January.
"Every single transfer is a gamble, but you try to eliminate the gamble," Commons told BBC Sportsound.
"Who knows, Compper might be superb in the next three years and be an unbelievable signing.
"But Celtic need a centre-half for European football, someone who is going to get you through these next two ties [against Zenit].
"They may well bring in another centre-half, but you can't keep four or five international, fit centre-halves happy. It is impossible. So it looks like one or two might be leaving."
If Compper lasts the length of his contract he will be younger than Alves was when he signed last summer...what were Kris’ considered thoughts on that signing ..??
TBF it's probably just Commons viewing it through the lens of self justification - "if Rodgers thought I was surplus to requirements at 32 then why is he even considering this guy at the same age????" We all do things like that to rationalise/justify things that didn't work out for us rather than admit to some sort of failing when something doesn't work out or comes to a disappointing end - in this case the obvious elephant in the room Kris is failing to recognise is that he wouldn't have been the right player for Rodgers at 22 never mind 32. And i don't think deila particularly fancied him either.

Still bitter that Brendan sussed out the fat mess that you are as soon as he walked through the door Kris? Went right off Commons way back in 2013 when he bad mouthed Efe after the Juventus game. He is a smarmy wee git who has an ego as big as his fat arse. Offers nothing on Sky and the only thing I enjoy about it is seeing him make a huge tit of himself 0

Only interested in getting the ball in and around the box and blootering it. No interest in anything off the ball. Self serving. He will put the boot into us first chance he gets.

A lot of Commons revisionism going on here. In the 6 seasons he actually got a game for us he hit double figures in 4. Got over 30 goals from midfield in one of them. He was never going to be a box to box player and wasn't signed for that. He was signed to pick the ball up in and around the box and blooter it.
Cracking player for us and hey ho what a surprise a shampooe pundit. He's hardly been sticking the boot in and to compare him to Walker is very harsh.

Why didn’t Hank play, or at least make the bench for the Sevco match? I would imagine it's probably something to do with the fact that he couldn't be registered until the transfer window opened yesterday.

Jeez, forgot the window wasn’t open, how did he sign then? You can sign at any point. The transfer window relates to the transfer of registrations, not contracts.

Aye, and barely moved from there 😂😂 We played a 4-4-1-1 and built the team and system around Kris commons.
He's far worse than walker as a pundit already. Embarrassingly bad.

MARVIN COMPPER has revealed where he thinks Celtic would finish in the Bundesliga – and has shown an impressive knowledge of his new club. The stopper was snapped up by Brendan Rodgers in a £1million deal from RB Leipzig. In a Q&A about his new employers on German website Sportbuzzer, the defender was able to name the Hoops’ record appearance holder and how many leagues and cups they have won. Compper also revealed he has already read new gaffer Brendan Rodgers’ biography and is looking forward to life in Glasgow. On Celtic’s placing in the German top flight, he said: “From places five to seven. We have a really good mix.” The 32-year-old showed he has done his homework on his new club as he was quizzed on the Scottish champions. Asked who has made the most appearances for the club with 822 games? he said: “Billy McNeill. He was captain in 1967 when Celtic won the European Cup in Lisbon. The Celtic fans always sing about that day in the 67th minute. “Celtic have won 48 championships and 37 Scottish Cups. “It is part of dealing with an employer who knows history. “I also read Brendan Rodgers’ biography. He was an ardent Celtic fan from an early age, lives and loves this club. “I’ve got a very good feeling about signing. Celtic play a similar style to RB Leipzig. Standing high, no senseless balls forward and pressing. “My family and I are looking forward to Glasgow. Goodbye, Leipzig!” Compper also said he was impressed with Rodgers’ attention to detail during a breakfast meeting. He added: “I was invited to his home for breakfast. “There was gluten-free bread and lactose-free cereal. He then showed me an eight-page expose about me. He knew everything about me. “He knew my taste for healthy food and even the age of my wife and children.” https://www.thescottishsun.co.uk/marvin-compper
