Been a terrific signing, but his legs can't keep up with the demands of our schedule. Wouldn't make the same mistake we did with Izzy and punt him but he needs to be the back up to a younger player there.

People talking about actively disliking him  Grow up.
It's not even just his legs, he lacks focus. We nearly lost a goal yesterday because May ran off the back of him, and we did lose a goal in Russia for the same thing.

Love the guy, needs to go before that changes.
That thing of ball-watching, getting sucked in towards the middle and not watching his far post has been a thing for a season or two now. Rodgers must know it but he's useful to have because he tucks in and becomes that third centre-half in the system when KT moves forward but his negatives are starting to outweigh the positive at this stage.
He also been a big part of the squad.

Most successful teams will have a player or two amongst them who they could improve on, but what they bring to the team as a whole just can’t be replaced.

The one thing I don't get is why we've played him so frequently after all the previous issues, he should have been sharing time with another player regularly, someone should have come in if Gamboa isn't up to it, which not many will believe he is.

The injury to Ralston might not have helped but I found it strange seeing other players rested at times while Lustig wasn't, at other times I think he was needed at CB but it seemed too heavy a workload based on what we've seen in the past.

He looks physically and mentally done in

Apart from being a loveable big maniac there was a period of time when I thought he was the best player in our squad. The decline in
his performances has been startling. Keep hoping for a Broonyesque revival but its looking increasingly unlikely sad to say

I would hate to write him off. Not too long ago he was putting in terrific performances. Sadly he has always made a terrible centre half so not sure what we can do but rest him and hope he recovers a bit of form. He can't play in a World Cup performing like that.

He is one of the highest earners at the club just now. Sadly I think he needs to go from a pure financial point of view as his performances don't merit the money his on any longer.

I think his injury record and the amount he has played in the last 2 seasons has taken its toll on him. Despite this, it's still quite alarming that he's playing as bad as he is in some games. His decision making is really bad. The initial mistake for the 2nd yellow yesterday was an awful lapse in concentration but the challenge to try and recover was even more ridiculous.

He's been consistently poor for two seasons now. He's done, it happens to them all eventually. Been a brilliant servant and is truly one of us. Time to move on now though, he's a liability.

He was. As well as the team played last year he was not up to standard. Plenty of people on here said as much at the time. It's not been a sudden loss of form.

Lustig has been a great servant to the club who has given his best years to us. He's one of those players who aren't Scottish/weren't raised on Celtic but absolutely gets the club and what it means to play for Celtic and what the club means to the fans - see the beach ball incident and goal in the 5-1 game.
However it does appear he has become a weak link in the team and it is time for an upgrade. Ideally he would be kept around both as cover and for what his character and experience bring to the dressing room. If he wants to go somewhere to play regular football I don't think anyone would grudge him that but his time as a regular starter for Celtic is surely drawing to a close.

He's physically broken. He can barely run. Love him. Terrific signing. But he is absolutely done
We were saying the same thing about Brown 2 years ago and look at him now.

Lustig needs a break, or surgery or something, he's a shadow of the player he was even just last season.
Brown was an exception rather than the rule.

The ball watching/drifting away from the back post has been there for much longer than that. Probably his entire career

Despite conceding only 3 in 10 league games, defensive criticism is never far away. A look at Lustig and Simunovic's defensive numbers. Can their performances be defended?
