Pretty sure I got ripped on here a while back for saying McNamara was a better right back.

Lustig has been a decent servant but he can't touch Jackie for ability. Eat shampoo, naysayers :(

Maybe it is hope over reality but I think lustig will still have a few good games to give Celtic yet. But not when he is carrying an injury or playing two games a week for weeks on end. Get him injury free and play Ralston more often and we will have a better chance of getting performance s from lustig.
When was the last time he played two games in a week? We rested him on Sunday FFS. One of the manager’s many blind spots.

He’s been done for months. Doesn’t offer us anything going forward and is ropey defensively. Some of his passes and touches, for a player supposed to be going to the WC, are shambolic.

Done for a wee while....world cup beckoning or not he is past it...great servant but at european level he is done.
Think he's done domestically as well. His main contributions this season have been the 45 degree back pass to a centre back or giving away goals through lack of concentration. If only Ralston had been fit.

In European games you need your experienced players to step up. Lustig is usually one of the first to shrink. He’s not good enough and has been needing replaced for a while now.

The big man is done. He’s been great for us, but he needs replaced in the summer.

Still done.

Back post ball zzzzzzz
He was aware this time which is almost a first for him when it comes to the back post - You can see him clocking the guy making his run and he still made a total feck up of it.

Time to get to and I cgaf how much of a cult hero he is - He is costing us goals and games not that that is something new.

Used to be the most consistent 7/10 player we had now he is a liability and I say that doubting Ralston is the answer but obviously hoping to be proven wrong.

Only still getting a game because Ralston and Gamboa aren’t up to it. Totally done now.

Ralston isn’t the answer for me but Rodgers signed Gamboa and doesn’t play him and has bummed Ralston up to the heavens and didn’t play him either when he was fit. I’m now at the stage I’d happily see either start.

Full backs are massive for us. To go with Lustig and Miller as KT’s deputy is negligent.

His switching off at the back post is infuriating.

The home game v Malmo with Berger was a shocker too.

Never learns

Finished as first choice, will be kept around as back-up for a year or two.

RB and GK will be our most crucial areas of recruitment in the summer.

I'm a bit careful about writing a player off. I wrote Scott Brown off under Deila when I thought age had caught up with him and then he went and did the biggest turn around
I've ever seen in a player, anywhere, turning back time and I think he even regrew some hair.

That said I don't think Lustig will do that. He's been a great player for us and we've been very lucky to have him given some of our previous RBs. I only wish we had gone and got him fresh from the Sweden U21s Tournament where he really was a stand out.

He could still offer a lot to a decent team in a small league like Belgium or Denmark, even Netherlands so I hope he has a good World Cup and can finish his career on a high.

Wanted a new RB in the summer and again in January. It would make a massive difference to the team. There's a reason the big clubs, particularly those that Rodgers tries to emulate, spend so much on the full-back positions.

Lustig's decline and the lack of faith in Gamboa/Ralston is why we play the back 3. It works sometimes but mostly is a makeshift decision.

Lustig just cannot play there anymore and he's never looked convincing as a centre-back, even at his peak.

With Brown though he hasn't had pace for a good while. Improved game intelligence and shaking off an injury to be able to perform for 90 minutes each week were big parts of his surprising turnaround.

Lustig has been on a downward curve for a while. His lack of pace is much more likely to be exposed at right-back. Even if he improves on this seasons generally awful use of the ball he'll still be a weak link.

It's so frustrating to watch him feck up our attacks with poor control or a terrible pass inside. There was a few times tonight he was hitting useless crosses from deep because he wouldn't carry the ball any further. Is he that fecked he can't run 30 yards with the ball?

He was too late to react when the ball for the third came in, because he was staring at the ball and not checking for the runner. It's absurd for a 31 year old fullback with six years' experience playing for Celtic to be doing that.
