A fully fit Lustig would have been sold for a good few millions by now, he 'was' one of very few class acts we have had in the recent past.

Now looks like we are left with the permanently crocked Lustig. If he is now to play at all I think it should be in Central Defence where he will have to do far less running about and his experience is really needed.

He's done, isn't he? I hear Sunderland have a promising young Welsh right back who'd be a decent replacement.
Yes , Matthews is tearing it up in the premiership.

Sub in the first 3 games and then not quoted since. 30mins of league football since August.

Either injured or not good enough - that's why we got rid.
I'd rather judge Matthews on his performances for us, and I was always happy to see him in the team. Even did a job at left back when called upon, including a superb display against Barcelona. I think Messi would struggle in that Sunderland team.

When he gets back to full fitness I'd stick him at CB, should be an easier shift than up and down the wing upteen times a match and couldnt be any worse than any of the other clueless efferes we have trying to play centre half.

Would love to give him an extended run at CB to see how he would get on.

Sure that would take less of a tll on his body as well.

Hes an intelligent footballer, so dont think he would struggle to make the shift.

Lustig has been rotten for months, injuries may have taken there toll on him OR he just knows now that he hasn't got a very good player in Adam Matthews waiting to take his place and has become sloppy

He has been terrible for months now. Imo that is because he is having to play so many games - he hasn't the fitness nor stamina for that.

Would take Shay Logan. Gets up and down the pitch and seems reasonably competent in defence. We would turn him into a dud in no time right enough.

He's a 29 year old who's had serious injury problems for the last 3 years.
That he's being asked to play in the manner that he is is extraordinary.
He's been even more adventurous/foolhardy since Izzy was dropped.
Either allow him to modify his game, or buy somebody else.

Buy somebody else regardless.

Its like all the power has gone from his legs, that he stands a matter of willpower. He does offer something to the team in terms of fight and a degree of organisation.

He could work in a back 3 as St Ant said in recent CU podcast
