Quoting limited to 3 levels deep
Has Ralston done anything to suggest he can't defend?
The exact opposite.

Ralston is definitely more of a defensive fullback than an attacking one. It's why he's ahead of Gamboa in the pecking order. He only got forward against Killie because they were so utterly dreadful.
is gamboa not injured and thats why ralston is ahead of him

Absolutely. One of his best recent performances.

He was but was back on the bench for Rosenburg so fit again.

As someone said earlier, the reason Ralston is ahead of Gamboa is that he fits into out system of 4 pushing to a 3 when Tierney pushes forwards. For all Gamboa may be quick when we go to a 3 at the back because Tierney is pushing on we need a RB who can be a CB not a RW.

He's clearly a very well liked man. And every squad needs someone with his personality.

That and he can play a bit as well.

Yeah, can be important. Seems everyone loves the big fella. Did a chest bump with Broony at the final whistle.

Ronny's best legacy is getting ML fit for 90 minutes. :ph43r: :)

It's got hee haw to do with Ronny. He went back to his own old training regime from when he was injury free in his younger days.

Ronny mibby let him do it, but that's about it.

You could throw Rogic and McGregor in there too.

Not sure. Tore a muscle for Costa Rica int he summer. Out of nowhere he was named as a sub away to Gamboa but hasn't been in any match squad since then.

He's training at Lennoxtown but not clear if he's taking full part or not. He must have recovered from the injury or he wouldn't have been on the bench in Norway. Maybe he's picked up a knock since, or maybe Ralston is getting the nod as first choice reserve to Lustig (in which case you'd imagine we'd look to move Gamboa on just now as well)

Atrocious tonight.
Really, really bad. Bordering on scandalous tonight. His absolute lack of basic defending for two of their goals was shambolic, and then, at 4-1, he literally dived out of the way of a shot inside the penalty area. Was horrifically bad tonight, didn't make one single good decision all night.

His defending for the fourth was incredible.

Dreadful marking, and probably a victim of the defensive mix and match.

Ajer and Bitton was a major gamble, and nearly didnt work. Unsettled the full defence. Experienced reinforcements at centre half needed.

His pass to McGregor for Sinclair's goal was brilliant.

Everything else was horrendous.

His defending for their 4th is genuinely up there with some of the worst defending I've ever seen.

Surely he has to lose his place to Ralston if this continues? Ralston looked like the old pro when he came on, whereas Mikel was horrendous, though far from being the only one.
