gamboa done well in his last few games and no problem if he gets a few games but his crossing and final ball was dreadful. got up the park no bother but never led to anything

Agree. He's certainly more mobile than Lustig. Don't think he's a better defender or attacking threat than Lustig at all.

Getting a lot of undue stick I feel here.
I thought he along with the majority of the team was poor on Sunday but I am more for looking at the bigger picture down the line and think whilst still a good player due to injuries catching up with him in recent years he is regressing and will continue to regress.

The fit free running Lustig was a cracking player and could play well at CL level - I don't think the current Lustig can.

I think Lustig has been great for Celtic for the most part so don't see it as stick more an opinion on where we are now at with him.

I don't necessarily disagree with that. I'm of the opinion we can improve in the position also but I feel that everywhere on the pitch. I feel some of the stick he's getting in the past few days re his performance Sunday is misplaced.

Mckay never got a sniff. They didn't even penetrate much after Forrest went off and essentially he was getting double teamed for the last 20 minutes. He didn't have a great game going forward, did anyone? but to say he's not a viable part of our attacking is misplaced. He scored the equaliser last week. He scored a brilliant goal against ICT bursting beyond the lines with a great run touch and finish.

He's a valuable member of the squad, seems to garner a lot of respect in the squad ( similar to Brown) and from Brendan. Wasn't that long ago people were very happy to see him sign a new deal. Is Gamboa an improvement? Certainly not defensively or offensively. He just runs a lot quicker and that seemingly impresses a lot of folk.

Edit - I like Gamboa think he's got the raw materials there but lacks the nous to play a very important position on the park for us.

He needs to sort his body shape out a wee bit when receiving the ball sometimes. Looks as if he closes the pitch down meaning he has to turn back or take an extra touch.

I'm a Lustig fan and I think he's our best right back mate but he and I think Tierney both need a wee spell on the bench to recharge the batteries . Sviechrnko as well.

I'm new. Be gentle.
I thought he was okay, mckay dont sweet fa. But wallace didnt go forward at all, so I think lustig wasnt as exposed as much asin the new year game, ultimately he is on the slide and if gamboa inst up to it, a replacement will need to be sourced.

From listening to Rodgers talking about Lustig's attitude and winning mentality, I think we will continue to see him start more often than not.

Clearly doesn't have the pace he once had though. Would love to see him getting forward and overlapping more but the legs aren't there to do that and get back.

A wee rest for a couple of games would do him good.

Still love the guy though.

I'd like to see Gamboa get a run soon, just to see if we have a viable alternative to Lustig.

Anyone know if Ralston could be a viable option as backup next season?

Like many a player before him, he seems to have deteriorated after signing a new contract.
I'm sure he'll be back to a certain level of performance but prolly needs rotated more.

Haven't heard much about him this season at all, even when I've read reports on development squad games he doesn't come across as having stood out. It doesn't seem like he's going to be a viable option for next season, I think a more likely event is him being loaned out somewhere next year with the hope that he'll be in a position to become a regular member of the first team squad in the season after that.

Edit - this isn't worth a new thread, but it's sort of related to this one.... I just looked at what was happening with Saidy Janko this season and discovered (at the same time as noticing he's managed a full 7 games for the mighty Barnsley) that we signed him on a four year contract. Four fecking years

I tried to stop noticing it as it was depressing me, but by about the middle of the 2nd half against Dundee he'd made about three forward passes. Too often he'll bring the ball forward, encounter the opposition and play it back to the centre half. Maybe he feels that others aren't offering him an option, but he seems to be in an exclusive club of one who can't find a forward pass.

I was happy to see him sign a new deal but he needs to work on that. And also stop falling asleep and letting people slip in behind him at the back post.

He`s quite clear that he played Neymar by winding him up and got him booked. that was Lustig`s victory, rather than getting himself sent off.

Assuming this isnt another of your hilarious wind ups.

You can kick someone without getting sent off.

Neymar's a diving, cheating wee arsehole. If you are going to get a card make sure it's a deserved one.

Lustig got Neymar booked, that was what he wanted to do. Maybe unlikely but being on a yellow might have made Neymar less likely to dive so much.

you dont often get away with booting someone up in the air.

Booting that despicable wee rat bastard in the air would be worth a red card. The most horrible player in football today.

Couldn't care less how talented ye is, I can't stand the carrot.
