He was really poor today and looked absolutely shattered in the second half. He runs like he's had both hips replaced. Still he managed to go on a long run, exchange a couple of one-twos before crossing with a rabona. Unbelievable.
According to LiveScore he was booked at the end. It looked from where I was that loads of St Johnstone players lost the plot.

He took umbrage at a tackle on him and said as much to the St J player, they then went toe to toe and the St J player grabbed Lustig. I have no idea if the St J player was booked but if he wasn't then that's another blooper from the ref.

Reference booking under Huns referee Thompson unhappy at the result, I'm surprised that he hasn't got a whiplash injury from the speed he pulled out that yellow card. He's got plenty of previous, i.e. booking Griffiths in the 94th minute at Hampden for kicking the ball away in a game that had only 3 minutes injury time :nono:

To be fair he has had bone "shaved" off both hips, whatever that means

Was in South Stand, Craig and Lustig both got booked after squaring up to one another. Thought he was dung today until his showboating. Gamboa was immense v Hearts and didn't deserve to be dropped IMO.

his attempt at the scissor kick in the first half was entertaining
I have no idea what his intended outcome of it was going to be...a cross, a shot?.... Didn't look like either.

Good effort though.

The funny thing was I just knew he was going to do that when I saw Roberts' pass floating towards him. It was weirdly predictable in how maverickian (yeah that's definitely not a word) it was.

I reckon Lustig was restored to the starting lineup against Aberdeen mainly because of his greater height and set piece defending ability. Aberdeen are a very big, physical side and we were already without Dembélé and we would have had a very small lineup if Tierney, McGregor, Brown, Sinclair, Roberts and Forrest were joined by Gamboa.

I thought Lustig was having a really bad game today - he was hopeless for the first 70 minutes - but then set up the 3rd and 5th goals.

He had a poor first half, an average 2nd but he also assisted a goal with a rabona from the left wing area after about 4 one-twos and attempted an overhead kick from a corner.

Swedes and roundabouts.

The big mad bugger doesn't half wind up the opposition.

I know Mcinness hates him, pretty sure Joey Fenian did not enjoy the burst ball on the head routine, and now Liam Craig is off the Xmas card list as well.

Love him.

His likability factor is high but they way Gamboa is improving, the big man could struggle to keep him at bay. He's played a lot of football this season and maybe it's beginning to show, given his many injuries and hip problem.

Runs like he's towing a bus.

Rotten yesterday. If we go to a back 4, he shouldn't be starting.

BTW, I think his game time is going to be limited if his level doesn't step up. His crossing is generally poor and his range of pass (singular) stops momentum sometimes. His part in that 5th goal is to be celebrated though.

Gamboa is far more dynamic, but has his own limitations.

Horses for courses at the moment, and not a real problem either way for the rest of the season.

Getting on a bit
[ * * * * * * * * * * ]
By the comments on this thread this could be a Kris Commons situation where he's got a contract he shouldn't have.

I think Brendan Rodgers sees him more as centre half when we go to a 3 at the back.

Gamboa has played decent twice since he signed, personally I don't rate him that highly. He has good assets, mainly his pace, but I think he's pretty poor on the ball.

I'd like a new right back but Lustig just got a new contract, Gamboa just signed and Janko is still on the books so that's unlikely to happen.

Any young right backs in the development team?

I was looking at the 5th goal again and I think he attempted a rabona pass earlier in the move as he was coming across the field but kinda got his legs tangled. So he had another go for the cross itself. I reckon Henderson's earlier piece of skill at the byline put the rabona into his mind.

Anthony Ralston has already had some game time for the seniors. For a young lad he is built like a tank. Which could serve him well if we are looking for full-backs who can still defend the back post.
