If he stays injury free and keeps his current from, I suspect he will get a contract offer.

Similar to our captain it appears last season was a blip. Back to his best. Mr reliable.
Really weird.

I can understand the camp being happier under a manager that knows what he is doing but along with Brown and Forrest they look stronger and fitter.

Looks like the player from 3 years ago only he plays 90 minutes instead of limping off after 60 - new contract will surely follow.

Lustig is very reliable, and for a full back thats a wonderful attribute. He's been a great signing and I'd love to see him here for longer.

Should have been given a four year deal the minute he put that beach ball on his head.

Should get him signed up. A real asset and is good back up as a CB.

Another of our Saga members. Forced retirement seems to suit him, Brown and Gordon.

Kinda wish Charlie Mulgrew had stuck around now. Maximum wind-up-ability

Seems to be revitalised this season, along with a few others. Not quite as adventurous as Tierney who has youth on his side, but in his current form is a 7/10 most weeks, or better. Reliable and consistent.

Have never noticed he had his own thread and love the fact that it has accrued 20 pages in 2 and a half years.

Reliable, nothing noteworthy, and rather boring. Just what I'm looking for in a right back. :)

CELTIC are set to open talks with Mikael Lustig over a new contract.

The Swedish defender’s current deal runs out at the end of the season, but Brendan Rodgers wants him to stay.

The Celtic manager revealed he has already spoken to Lustig and assured him he features in his plans.

Rodgers will now ask Parkhead chiefs to hammer out fresh terms for the Hoops’ 29-year-old vice-captain.

He said: “Mikael is someone I definitely want to keep at the club. I spoke to him on Thursday about that.

“He is a player I’ve been really impressed with. He’s been consistently available, he’s played a lot of games and has great maturity.

“Mikael is a wonderful guy for the team and is an international player.

“He’s 29 and is at the peak of his career. He’s been outstanding.

“Mikael is the type of player I want to have here to help create and build something.

“I’m sure him and his representatives will speak to the club and hopefully organise that.”

Lustig picked up a knock on international duty and could miss today’s clash with Motherwell.

But the Swede — who arrived on a free from Rosenborg in January 2012 — recently admitted he wants to prolong his Parkhead stint.

He said: “I want to stay. I’m really happy here and have been here for five years. I’ve loved every minute of my time here.”
