Him and his 'haud me back' mate in the red top deserve a good slapping. Did Cantona teach us nothing? :boxer:

what in hells name is a jihadist

hate all the various words they have to describe muslims - we currently have jihadists, islamists, taliban, terrorist, insurgent etc etc.

Would it be ok for me to label various jews as oppressors, land grabbers, head bangers etc?
would it be ok for me to label various hindus as mosque breakers?
couldn't think of anything for christians - bit of a blank brain moment.

not deliberately trying to be offensive and i apologise to everyone if i have offended them but sick of all the various labels muslims get given to make us look like
we do nothing but cause trouble.

Mind you in saying that if it had been true he coulda been al-qaedas (yet another faction) new poster boy!!!

I read the article, and in it they do not equate "muslim" with "jihadist," which I agree is an idiotic term, and so there really isn't an issue of conflating the two and I hope no one is stupid enough to do so. He's no more a jihadist or anything else for being muslim than I'm a crusader for being Christian. Anyway, this isn't the thread for "lazy tabloid terms that annoy us" so please take any further discussion to General. Thanks. TW

probably the right thread to share this so I will. When I was 11 and my wee brother was 9 we knew we were getting either a Scotland strip or a Celtic strip from Santa. On Xmas morning I was deviously 1st awake and after going through my 4 brothers and 2 sisters presents I discovered to my horror that I was getting the Scotland strip and my wee brother the Celtic one. So I switched presents :) .In the morning I had a much too small celtic strip on but proud as feck and my wee brother was delighted with his Scotland strip which when he rolled the sleeves up was a goodish fit.My mum and dad bless them never said a word.True story ...maybe other hoops fans have done something similar.

Found this amusing.

Even the former Wimbledon, West Ham and Bolton man is confused, writes John Foster...

Nigel Reo-Coker has been playing in Canada for over a year and not, as had been widely assumed, for Queens Park Rangers.

Rangers fans have reacted with surprise to the news that the gifted but inconsistent Reo-Coker is not a member of their squad, unlike the gifted but inconsistent Yossi Benayoun, the gifted but inconsistent Shaun Wright-Phillips, and the gifted but inconsistent Ravel Morrison.

“He’s a midfielder, he’s not quite done it at the top level and he’s been accused of having an attitude, so I naturally assumed he played for us,” said QPR fan Damian Di Marchi. “I can’t quite believe he’s not made a few nondescript cup appearances before picking up an injury that keeps him out of the team for a few months.

“Was I thinking of Jermaine Jenas? Junior Hoilett? Jamie O’Hara? Does Jamie O’Hara even play for us? I don’t know what to think any more. Maybe I was thinking of the gifted but inconsistent Niko Kranjcar.”

Having previously played for a litany of mediocre Premier League sides and England U21s, it was considered inevitable that Reo-Coker would be signed by Harry Redknapp’s promotion-chasers, including by Reo-Coker himself.

“I often assume I’m a QPR player,” he told FourFourTwo. “It would make a lot of sense for me to have a squad number in the high 30s and spend most of my time hanging around the treatment room with Armand Traoré and Bobby Zamora, but I’ve somehow ended up in Vancouver instead.

“My team-mates here include Kenny Miller and Andy O’Brien, who both sometimes think they must play for QPR as well, which helps me feel at home.”

In other QPR news, Luke Young faces a struggle to persuade the club he still plays for them, after everyone assumed he’d just wandered off on loan to somewhere like Doncaster by now.

Had no idea Benayoun was at QPR but as the article suggests, it's not surprising.

Not sure where else to put this but somehow ended up watching a video of Fernando Torres from back in 08/09 and the difference is staggering to today's model. How can he go from that to missing open goals and looking like he's never played football before? :ponder:

He got some bad injuries that he never seemed to recover from. They seemed to take away his pace, which was a big part of his game. He was pish before he went to the last World Cup too, Liverpool did amazingly well to get £50 million for him considering he wasn't having a great season when he left.

Shame they spunked most of it on Andy Carroll
