just stumbled across this. one of the best but most under-rated players ever imo. a joy to watch ...

underrated by Juventus certainly.

Ho ho, half way through this and lost count of how many killer passes I've seen - phenomenal.
What a player he was - loved watching him play at Barcelona. Shame the three foreigner rule restricted his appearances when him, Koeman, Stoichkov and Romario were all at the club at the same time.

Ah the three foreigners rule, caused some strife! Boban was generally a victim of that on Channel 4 Sundays too!

Remembering Fergie left Schmeichel out at the Camp Nou and played our very own Kevin Pilkington (if memory serves me right)?

That was a hoot, was in Spain at the time, remember reading Michael Robinsons column prior to the game which stated that Koeman scored from one in every four free kicks he took - stat supposedly including those from his natural sweeper position, not bad going, and not a bad team!

 dunno about that but i think it's fair to say that they didnt always see eye to eye. i mind cruyff leaving him out the 94 CL final where they got a doing from milan.

Cruyff on Laudrup:

"One of the most difficult players I have worked with. When he gives 80–90% he is still by far the best, but I want 100%, and he rarely does that."

"When Michael plays like a dream, a magic illusion, determined to show his new team his extreme abilities, no one in the world comes anywhere near his level."

"Had Michael been born in a poor ghetto in Brazil or Argentina with the ball being his only way out of poverty he would today be recognised as the biggest genius of the game ever. He had all the abilities to reach it but lacked this ghetto-instinct, which could have driven him there."

Top 10 goals from Barcelona's youth sides this week:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=3f9mUlG6Nvs

No surprise to see they are where they are with the skill of some of their young players.

As far as career slumps go, this is pretty spectacular.

Striker Jeanvion Yulu-Matondo has been released by Bury, just one day after signing for the League One club.

The former Belgium Under-21 international, 27, agreed non-contract terms with the Shakers on Monday.

But he has been let go after playing in Monday's reserves game with Bolton.

"If he had shown something in that game, I might have been able to throw him on the bench - he's on the next flight to Brussels," boss Kevin Blackwell told the club website.?

(external)

Yulu-Matondo, who signed for Bury after a three-week trial, began his professional career at Club Brugge, and scored for the Belgian side in a Champions League tie against Juventus.

After leaving Brugge in 2007, he had spells in the Netherlands at Roda JC and Bulgaria with Levski Sofia, before returning to Belgium to play for Westerlo in 2011.

However, he was released by the club at the end of last season without scoring a goal in 15 appearances.

Didn't know where to put this, but just found out Ian Murray who is in charge of Dumbarton is the same Ian Murray who Rangers signed from Hibs :ffs:

Local team as well. Saw the name and thought "Naw, it couldn't be", but decided to check there and lo and behold, it's the same guy

My cousin plays for the Sons and said Murray was a bag of nerves when he first arrived.

He's done pretty well since, had some cracking results so far. Hope it's enough for Dumbarton to stay in the first division.
