I don't think this has been posted anywhere else; Tommy Burns: Community hall in memory of Celtic legend on site where Glasgow club was founded A NEW community hall is to be built in memory of Celtic legend Tommy Burns on the site where the Glasgow club was founded. The building in the Calton area of the city will replace St Mary's Parish Hall, where hundreds of people gathered for Burns' funeral a decade ago. Brother Walfrid founded Celtic Football Club in the original hall and a website - celticdayone.com - has been created to explore the relationship between the Church and the football club, and raise public support for the construction of the new hall. Thousands of fans and famous faces from the world of football gathered at St Mary's Church for Burns' funeral in 2008 following his death at the age of 51 after a long-running battle with cancer. Parish priest of St Mary's, Canon Tom White said: "Tommy's funeral took place in St Mary's 10 years ago, and never have I seen the church and its surroundings busier. "It was so fitting that Tommy's Requiem Mass was held in St Mary's, not simply because of the church's capacity, nor its ties with Celtic Football Club as its spiritual home and place of birth, but also because Tommy was a Calton boy. "I have been amazed by the number of calls and enquiries recently asking 'are you doing anything for Tommy?' I am sure people will agree that what we plan to do is very fitting. "It is not often easy for those who are successful in the football world to be hailed as abounding in Gospel values, but Tommy Burns in that regard was exceptional: he displayed a great love of faith, family and football. "I think that the building of the new hall, on Tommy's name, on the site where the club of his heart was founded, is the perfect way to remember a great footballer and a great human being." http://www.eveningtimes.co.uk/news/16227707.Community_hall_in_memory_of_Celtic_legend_Tommy_Burns_on_site_where_Glasgow_club_was_founded/ |

Football is brutal at that level. A world away from international superstars and their soap opera problems, boys like this are moving up and down the country playing to pay the bills and support families. Like every other industry, clubs are quick to take advantage of the fact that so many guys want to play football, and treat the people who provide the labour without which there would be no club like shampoo. This gets particularly nasty with young players, who are the most at-risk for shampooty treatment and exploitative relationships with clubs and agents. |

"The uploader has not made this video available in your country." Can get around that with a VPN. The build up doesn't have much to write home about (to say the least!!) but it is a nice finish. |

Never knew this about the Betfred Cup, "The group stage uses the traditional three points for a win and one point for a draw model but all drawn matches go straight to a penalty shoot-out, with the winner awarded a bonus point". Betfred Cup group stage fixtures Spoiler: click to toggle

Always thought of Neville Southall as a "mans man", smoking tabs and drinking lager down the local, but hats off to him he comes across as a great guy in this interview. He also shares the same opinion as me in regards to Piers Morgan. Neville Southall: ‘I’ve got a bit of flak because I stick up for sex workers’ Spoiler: click to toggle
