Watching history channel and they have programme about who is better bale or Beckham and they have chosen Beckham. Astonishingly over-rated . Easily worst of that Man United midfield 4 and if not English wouldn’t be deemed even a great player

If he hadn't married skinny/torn faced spice no one would have bothered their arse about him! Once he married her they and the media created the Beckham brand and the rest is history, a good player with good feet, but too slow of speed and thought to be a great player!

Beckham was a good but not great player, Ferguson wouldn't have had him in his team for 7 years if he was just a media invention.

Real Madrid in 2003 would have though.

He was still the weakest of that utd midfield 4 by far and is nowhere near as good as bale

I didn't rate Beckham until I saw him against us at CP (can't recall who he was playing for) and my opinion changed - IMO, he was superb that night, always found space, played some superb passes / crosses and strolled through the game - he showed why he was rated so highly.

My previous point still stands. Not saying he was crap just overhyped and never the best player on his team

Ferguson played him wide right because he had that incredibly honed ability to put long curving balls right into the back post with almost Jedi like accuracy. But he was no central midfielder, as his shambolic performances for Madrid in that position would show.

Mine too, hence my point about the Beckham brand! Good player, but was the golden boy of the English media so whatever he done was exaggerated x10.

He never had the footballing brain to play in the middle, imho. Wand of a right foot but, like a certain Stevie G, was too fond of the misplaced Hollywood pass. As he became more of a celebrity his performance on the pitch became more about feeding his own ego and less about benefiting the team.

Ancelotti deemed him good enough to play in the middle for PSG...

He played 14 games for PSG under Ancelotti as a 37 year old. I'd imagine he was shunted more centrally because he was hardly was hardly going to be running up and down the wing as he did as a 21 year old.

Tommy Boyd's testimonial?

This was the first time I saw Beckham in that flesh and he was excellent.

Was asking about the indoor training dome on twitter...one of the responses suggested the dome may well be built at Barrowfield...anyone else heard this? Would find it strange tbh...you'd think we'd want it at Lennoxtown. Unusual we haven't heard much regarding this...Brendan obviously wants it...and at a reported cost of around £2m....it doesn't seem much in the grand scheme of things.

Barrowfield is an absolute shanner of a facility. Anything to improve it would be more than welcome.

Yeah agreed, just think it would be a strange move to build the dome anywhere but Lennoxtown...we have all the best facilities there, dressing rooms..sports science etc...we'll have to wait and see i suppose.

He was also in central midfield for AC Milan.

Ancelotti was his gaffer in Milan, too.

Madness to say he was better than Bale. The only thing he outperforms him on his crossing with the inside of his right foot, and that's more of a consistency thing. Bale's pass to Marcelo with the outside of his left should have been the best thing about the final if it weren't for his insane winner. Add to that his heading ability, pace, free kicks and goal scoring and you'd have to be a plastic St George's bowler hat-wearing English muppet to think Beckham even comes close.

You don't have to be a bad player to not be in the same league as the likes of Gary Bale.
