https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/43956998"At the Stade de France, Ligue 1 champions Paris St-Germain - one of the richest clubs on earth - face Les Herbiers, who are battling relegation from the third division, in the Coupe de France final. To put it into a financial context, Les Herbiers' entire annual budget of 2m euros (£1.77m) would pay the wages of PSG's injured striker Neymar for 16 days." ...and we had the cheek to talk about a financial mismatch...
Isn't that a fairly high budget for a French div 3 club? especially when it is battling relegation? there are about 4 teams in the best Danish division that runs budgets like that It's an average budget for National. There are a mix of pro and semi pro clubs. Four professional clubs have over €4m, even 7m for Red Star. The rest have between 1.5m and 2.5m.
The league is so close that only the top 3 weren't battling against relegation. Ironically Creteil are already certain to go down despite having the second budget, but they have all sorts of off pitch problems.

Crazy with Red Star, the two teams that are battling to be Danish champions, Brøndby(Pukki) and FC Midtjylland(Sviatchenko) are both at the budget lvl - FC Copenhagen are higher, but not in the tittle race this year

FORMER Celtic star Emilio Izaguirre has revealed he’s set to eventually go into management and will use the Brendan Rodgers blueprint for success.
The full back spent seven years at Parkhead and won ten major honours before eventually losing his place to Kieran Tierney and moving to Saudi Arabian side Al-Fayha.
Still only 31, Izaguirre wants to return to his Honduran homeland before retiring and moving into management.
And he’s revealed Hoops boss Rodgers is his inspiration.
Izaguirre said: “The idea is for me to return home and maybe end my career at my first club Motagua before going into coaching.
“When I was at Celtic, I immediately recognised this was a different style of coaching to what I was used to. So I took notes of every single training session I ever did at Celtic.
“The best training was from Brendan Rodgers. I want to transfer all the knowledge I learned under him when I am a coach.
“I like a style where we will defend well, be organised and have three fast strikers.
“But the main thing I learned under Rodgers was that it was all about how the opposition played and their tactics.
“He used to tell us he had up to 30 high class players who were always able to play for his team for any given game.”
And Izaguirre revealed a surprising role model for him that he says helped him through long seasons at Celtic without any major injuries.
He said: “When i first joined Celtic, Neil Lennon told me to look at Scott Brown’s diet.
“He never went to the gym, but was always lean and fit.
“Since then I’ve never eaten another hamburger. I have had seven years of having zero sugar in my diet and I never had a muscle problem.
“I eat salads, fish, mashed potatoes, fish, fruit and lots of water.”

We are up to something I’m getting a word in my ear about a “ big announcement “ in the next couple of weeks, maybe even specifically two weeks tomorrow and the source would seem to suggest it has a link to Man City. I’m guessing either Paddy signing or perhaps some Emirates link. If I get more info I’ll stick my neck out and post it. Source is absolutely solid. All usual caveats apply. Shares can go up as well as down and all that.
Sounds interesting.
If it's Yaya I will donate £100 to the kds charity fund Rumours on twitter that we are signing Yaya Toure. Prob using this thread as a source .

It seems it isn't only the SPL who tries to fudge the fixture list:
- Quote:
-
Top six given priority over key fixtures
The Premier League arranges its fixtures so that none of the “top-six” clubs meet on the first or final weekends of the season, it can be revealed. The arrangement, which also guarantees a meeting between top-six sides on 26 other weekends, has been running for several years but has been kept secret from fans.
Sources close to the Premier League say that it is done for commercial reasons to appeal to broadcasters and to boost attendances at matches on the final weekend. Some supporters’ groups have expressed concern that this gives special treatment to the bigger clubs, who are already pushing for a larger share of overseas TV cash. The top six for fixture purposes are decided before each schedule is devised, based on previous league finishes.
A spokesman for the Arsenal Supporters’ Trust (AST) said: “We are very concerned about this apparent designation of an elite group of top-six clubs. Every Premier League club should be treated equally, and we also do not agree with this push for them to receive a bigger share of television money.
“The AST would like the focus to be on organising fixtures and kick-off times that are convenient for fans who go to matches, rather than what best suits domestic or overseas TV viewers.”
The Football Supporters’ Federation said it was unaware of the Premier League’s arrangement. Kevin Miles, its chief executive, said: “This is certainly news to us and we look forward to holding discussions with the Premier League about the pros and cons of it.”
The arrangement is revealed in the tender document that the Premier League provided to broadcasters for the 2019-22 period. It is understood that it has been in place for some years. Although Liverpool played Arsenal on the opening day of the 2016-17 season, the Merseyside team had finished eighth in the previous campaign.
There are many other considerations that affect fixtures, most of which are widely known — for example Fifa and Uefa competition dates; if the police do not want neighbouring teams playing at home on the same day; if other events are taking place in the vicinity; or the demands on a particular stadium.
The decision to avoid matches between the top six on the opening weekend is believed to be because the Premier League does not want to stage one of the biggest games of the season during the holiday period when there are usually smaller TV audiences and when there may be competition from other big sporting events.
The top six are understood to be kept apart on the last weekend because all matches are played at the same time and the Premier League wants to boost attendances at every game rather than tempt fans to watch a potential big-six clash on TV.
Link (paywall)
The tender document to broadcasters also seemingly promises a match between the "top six" on each of the 26 weekend fixture programmes, excluding the opening and final weekend, and at least one match between the "top eight" in every round of fixtures.

Think most leagues do this tbh. Certainly in Italy they never have any of the big sides play each other in the first few rounds (4 I think).
This weekend was the first Classico played in Spain after the league had been decided since the 90's. I doubt that's a coincidence.
