It's not so much a clause. If Barca were to leave the Spanish FA in the event of Catalan independence, all players would be free agents as their contracts would be void.

Kris Commons is the latest to be interviewed by Simon Ferry.

He has a go at Delia and the diet plan they put the team on.
pretty sure that the diet thing was more about certain players and their lifestyle and what they ate when they were not at the club, like Commons says there were pasta at the club, players "scared" to eat it there, pretty sure that they would eat pasta (and other stuff) at home. If you are going on a high fat low carb kind of diet, you don't get the full benefits if you aren't following it. "Eating like the manager wants" while being at the club at training and up to matches, and the stuffing you with carbs and sugardrinks while at home, is bound to bring your energy lvl down, as your blood-sugar will go crazy

also, don't think that I once have seen any of the continental players complaining about Ronny's diet
Fair enough on the diet but we didnt look fit despite players losing weight. Remember saying to my mate its as if we train to hard and end up being tired on match day. Something wasnt right look at the semi against a team a division below our fitness level should have seen us through and it didnt.
See - I think this is BS.
In Deila's first season we were plenty fit - Inter Milan being a prime example of how fit we were.
In that tie I thought we were about as fit as I could recall us - even with the ten men.
2nd season I think the players not buying into the diet thing became far more apparent - and you've got to buy into it or it doesn't work.
I wonder if Deila had the support in place to coach through the diet.
Maybe too much telling what to do, and not explaining what the diet actually does, so that people buy into it.

Cutting carbs is very effective in losing body fat, but it isn't in itself going to make you more athletic in the way that Delia seemed to want. That still requires training at a level that Celtic's schedule generally doesn't allow for. Commons described training at Celtic at that time as a "smokescreen", with very little actually going on - isn't that completely consistent with the end result we saw on the pitch? Constant travelling and constant football, with what training sessions you can fit in being dedicated to physically intensive aerobic and anaerobic exercises, all while cutting carbs = a tired, disorganised mess. I think it also accounts for the likes of Armstrong and GMS seeing their performance levels drop through their floor after the first half-season.

The question here is why didn't the manager identify this, but the problem is that the manager didn't seem to actually be in charge. In fact, no one was. It's in that sense that Delia was out of his depth, in that he lacked the experience to marshal a club like Celtic. It's an experiment in management-by-boardroom-committee that we should never, ever repeat.

Former Celtic star Didier Agathe: Rangers rivalry made me move home nine times and drive an armoured car
Alasdair Mackenzie @aksmackenzie
Online Sports Editor

FORMER Celtic star Didier Agathe has claimed that the ferocity of the Old Firm rivalry forced him to move home nine times in a year and drive an armoured car to training.

Speaking to French publication SoFoot, the former Hoops wing-back accused Rangers fans of sending him death threats and explained why he never played for Scotland.

Agathe spent six years at Celtic Park between 2000 and 2006 after spells with Raith Rovers and Hibernian, winning three league titles, three Scottish Cups, one League Cup and helping the club reach the UEFA Cup final.

Now retired, the 42-year-old looked back on his time in Glasgow, saying: “I have so many memories. The Old Firm rivalry forced me to move home nine times in just one season.

“One time some Rangers guys smashed up my car, just because Celtic had won all the domestic trophies.

“On another occasion people sent death threats to my home, so I used an armoured van to go to training.

“I am Catholic, so saw it as a sign when I joined Celtic. One year we were in the middle of Lent, around February-March, with an Old Firm game set for the weekend. I was in a well-known Indian restaurant in Glasgow, where I ate a normal meal respecting the rules of my religion.

“Two days later I drove to training. 300 people were waiting for autographs, and a guy spoke to me saying he was a journalist. I told him I had to train and had been told not to speak to the media.

“After taking a shower, he was still there. I went out shopping and he later showed up outside my house. He said it was about the Indian restaurant, and asked why I went there, but I didn’t answer.

“On the day of the derby the paper printed a headline about me, and a copy of a fake restaurant bill showing I’d ordered dozens of dishes. It was nonsense!

“During the whole game the Ibrox crowd sang: ‘Agathe loves curry’ every time I touched the ball. It was crazy.”

He continued: “The atmosphere at the derby is indescribable. It always gets record TV audiences in Scotland, and it’s shown in the Middle East and the US as both teams have lots of fans worldwide.

“The Old Firm derby is about everything besides football. When I see Lionel Messi saying Celtic Park has the best atmosphere he’s ever experienced I am not surprised.

“We see grandparents come with their grandsons in opposition between Catholics and Protestants. You hear non-stop chanting about the Pope and the Virgin Mary – it is unhealthy and exudes hatred.

“During my time with Celtic we used to play against the likes of the De Boer brothers and Mikel Arteta.

“Rangers paid their players handsomely, and this cost them relegation.

“We achieved a domestic Treble against them, and beat them seven times in a row. We made our mark on the club’s history.

“Players get caught up in what is at stake in the derby, and the entire week before the game is a brainstorming session.

“Fans always tell the players they’d sooner lose to Juventus, Barcelona or any other team than Rangers. This is the one game you must win.

“Both teams will have players who are mentally weak, and they will launch themselves into violent tackles if the game isn’t going their way.

“Some people blow a fuse if they lose a game with so much riding on it.”

Agathe was considered for Scotland selection by Berti Vogts in 2004 as he was eligible to become a UK citizen.

He said: “At first, I would have loved to play for Scotland. But I felt that, even if there was no racism involved, I thought being the only black player could lead to things turning sour for me if things went badly.

“Let’s say I expected a bad outcome, as I knew some people – especially Rangers fans – didn’t want to see me in a Scotland shirt.

“Besides, it was a risk to burden my workload with international matches – bearing in mind I had played my entire career without cartilage in my knees.”

Crazy tale, but I wasn't aware that he'd no knee cartilage

Couldn't find the 'Old photos thread' but the photo of the storm damaged Jungle after the 1968 storm has just come up on BBC site (the day of Scotlands most deadly storm). When you were small the steps seemed so steep but didn't appreciate how shallow the Jungle terracing was.

From memory, mulgrew said in a simon ferry interview that he lost plenty a weight but couldn't run the length of himself under deila.

Deniz Naki: Shots fired at Kurdish footballer's car in Germany

A German-Kurdish footballer and well-known critic of the Turkish government has survived a suspected murder attempt while driving in western Germany.

At least two bullets fired from a passing car hit Deniz Naki's car on a motorway near Düren on Sunday night, German media say. He was not injured.

"I immediately ducked and then rolled right to the hard shoulder," he told Die Welt newspaper.

Naki plays for Amed SK in Turkey and previously played for German clubs.

Last April a Turkish judge gave Naki a suspended jail sentence of 18 months for "spreading terrorist propaganda for the PKK", the separatist Kurdistan Workers' Party.

In 2016 the Turkish Football Federation gave him a 12-match ban for "ideological propaganda" linked to the Kurdish conflict.

But there is no evidence that the shooting was directly linked to the Turkish state, and Turkey has not commented on it.

Seen that earlier did not realise he has been accused before of bullying whilst at their Academy.

Fantastic footballer and literally very few interviews recently yet I cannot picture him the bully.

Shows what i know.
