http://www.goal.com/en-us/news/sources-us-soccer-sum-and-fox-in-preliminary-talks-about/di0w1q5w7rwk1jo3u3o6rc3md

Looks like Fox are trying to arrange an alternative tournament for the teams that didnt make the world cup, probably as the US not being in it will lower interest.
I doubt very much that FIFA would allow this to happen.
It sounds like it is, will essentially be classed as friendlies and aimed at getting players international experience and player development. Americans here are laughing at it, calling it the football version of the NIT, CBI (if you follow college basketball).

Essentially its because Fox paid a silly amount of money for the world cup to fill their summer schedule and need audiences watching somehow.
Yet I'm afraid Scotland will fail to qualify to this one too. :(

I know what Project Brave is, aye.

I read the article, aye.

I don't know what difference this makes to any of the academies in a meaningful sense. Seems like they've wasted ages sorting out a grading system for very little. Which doesn't bode well for the success of this.

Shouldn't the Think Tank be sorting it all out soon anyway?
If it does not make any difference to any of the academies, then surely they would have all applied for elite and achieved it?

I know that given Dundee's status they've just recently advertised for four new full time Academy staff. That's something they presumably might not have done without being on the lowest wrung.

It makes a lot of demands of clubs and academies, but it's not like the template that's been followed previously has a gleaming track record, is it?
I don't doubt there's more to it but the article just says that some academies have been graded in some way. It would be good for the article to outline to the reader the implications for them.

Mackay is quoted as saying it's an important milestone. Surely it's something that would have taken a few days to come up with and any remedial actions could have started quicker.

To think they’re going to expand that to 48 teams in 2026. :brickwall:

^^^^^^ 1974 Wim Van Hanagem. Eff off.

I really need to let this go
1978 Arie Haan for me.

Finally getting it was up there with Archie Gemmill's goal that year, in fact probably more stunning.

Daniele De Rossi apparently got on the Swedish bus after the game on Monday to apologise for the fans booing the Swedish anthem and for the behaviour of some of the players during the game in Stockholm (I don't know what behaviour, never saw the game).

The man is a complete and total class act :worthy:

It's not exactly anythign we didn't know but after Michael Stewart's exasperated efforts at trying to explain to Chick and Monster Munch that attendance at football matches did not necessarily suffer due to the death of the huns I did some back of a fag packet excel work to show he was indeed correct.

Shockeroonie...Kilmarnock attendances went down until their big cousins came back. Same with Motherwell essentially. But half the teams in the league showed annual growth in attendances during the period between death and reincarnation. So you are talking pish Kris and Chick.
