On average about every 22 years. First WC was in 1930. 88 years from then til 2018, Italy have won it 4 times, 34, 38, 82, and 2006.

Sorry for being so pedantic, slow day in work. Would like Italy to win next year, but don't think they have the squad to do it. They should have a big major scandal this year, it helped in 1982 and 2006.
Aye, my bad, it's since 1970 they've reached the final every 12 years.

70 - lost to Brazil
82 - beat Germany
94 - lost to Brazil
06 - beat France
18 - :hmmm:

Might not even make it if Sweden have anything to say about it.
:hmmm: Indeed. I think they'll scrape through Sweden, it won't be easy, but they come up some crafty "penalty" or some such to get through. Would be shocked if they got to the final though. Which means they probably will. An old timey Italy vs. Germany or Brasil final would great, tbh.

A schoolboy footballer is making regular 320-mile round trips from his home in the Western Isles to play for Greenock Morton FC's under-11s.
Matthew Davidson, 10, travels from the Isle of Barra for training sessions and matches with the Scottish Championship club as often as twice a week.
The midfielder played for Barra's Castlebay Community School before being spotted at a trials session.
Airline Loganair is helping Matthew with his travel arrangements.
Loganair operates flights from Barra's beach runway to Glasgow, from where Matthew can travel to Greenock.
Greenock Morton chief executive Warren Hawke said: "In recent years we have seen a number of players, such as Rothesay's Jim McAlister and Dunoon's Lewis Strapp, overcome geographic challenges to become professional footballers at Greenock Morton.
"None of those were quite on the same scale as young Matthew Davidson though, who travels all the way from his home on the Isle of Barra in the Outer Hebrides to train and turn out for our academy's under-11s side."

BBC - Full Story
Academies down here have a ruling to stop that sort of travel. Under 12's must live within an hour's travelling distance from the club, or 90 minutes for players aged 13-16.

I see the sun *spit* has us linked with Filip Benkovic again
Signed a new contract last January until 2022.
Valued at £8m.
Can imagine the pigs ear Lawwell would make of this, if it ever came to pass :twitch:
They started out wanted around the same figure for Jozo, we ended up paying around £4m for him
We were willing to a pay that for Wober of Rapid Vienna or so I’m told but we put it on hold when we thought we could get Paddy Roberts on a permanent basis and he signed for Ajax instead

So, we put an end to our interest in a centre half in favour of a winger? Sensible move

It’s the only reasonable stadium option, as we need a neutral venue. But hosting finals and semi finals in Edinburgh seems daft when probably 90% of the time either us or Sevco will be involved.
Hampden has no serious future other than as flats , but I don’t think CP should be the go to venue for semis and finals. The SFA is being shown up every other week to be unfit for purpose ,and this is one more example of their idiocy.

The biggest difficulty with Murrayfield will be 60,000+ punters travelling if it's us and the Sevs and avoiding trouble

the extra 6k seats aside. does murryfield have more or less corporate facilities than CP? thats where the cash is these days.

I'd imagine more but I can't say for certain. The stadium environs do lend themselves to staging an 'event' more than any stadium in Glasgow, so I'll say the SRU guy is right on that score.

One of the Murrayfield advantages is supposedly the chance to 'have a beer and socialise' before and after the match

:lmao:
