I'm sorry but I find this very sad indeed

The legend Gabriel Batistuta now lives with chronic pain in both legs and can barely walk unassisted
:(
I'm sad to hear that. Batigol was one of my favourite non Celts growing up. What a player he was :worthy:
That is genuinely sad. What a player! Rarely gets mentioned in the list of all time greats, wrongly in my opinion.
Some player right enough. Checked his stats on wiki and was surprised at how few honors he won at club level. I didn't realize that Fiorentina were generally poor much of the time he was with them. Still, he won Serie A with Roma, as well as an Argentinian championship with River.

The one time La Viola looked like they might challenge for Serie A while Batistuta was in Florence the great man got injured about 2 months before the end of the season. And that was the end of that dream :(

I got to see him score an absolute screamer at Old Trafford in the Champions League. Possibly my favourite non-Celtic football moment.

GRIFF MUST GROW UP OR DO ONE

Says KRIS BOYD

He may have scored a couple of goals against us during the week but Leigh Griffiths faces the longest crossroads of his career this season.

If he's not calling goalposts names, he's tying paedophiles to airport security desks. And it's got to STOP.

Look, I rate the wee man. Honestly I do.But it seems Brendan Rodgers just cannot get through to the wee man. It's up to the wee man to listen up.

Perhaps a spell being loaned out to a Cowdenbeath or an East Kilbride will show the wee man respect. God knows he needs shown something, the petulant wee man that he is.

Look, I'm not criticising him. But he attracts trouble. Bottles, coins, you name it he attracts it. You fear he'll never change.

In my day I was accused of being a fat, lazy, useless simple bastard.

But hey, I did the job on the park. I would literally kick the ball into the net. And it worked, because I'd be picked the next week.

So the wee man has my sympathy. But not my consolation. And definitely not my support.

Rodgers has given him one. two, three, four warnings now and the wee man has heeded none of them. Even when he scored his penalty against us on Tuesday night he couldn't resist jogging back towards the centre-circle.

What on earth can Rodgers do about him now?

NOTHING, that's what. Get rid of him Celts.

Before it's too late.

NBC, who carry the Premier League in America, are trying to revamp coverage of the Premier League in a bid to boost falling viewing figures. The Premier League are apparently looking to move games on Sunday to an earlier time to help increase viewership in the Far East. NBC are understandably livid with this as it's going move a lot of the big games to a very early time slot.

Partick Thistle 0 Celtic 1

Michael Gannon at Firhill

They say 3 points are everything in football, but just like the bird at the end of the night when you are stoating about with chips in your hand, they can be easily forgotten.

Celtic may have had one eye on Astana - aye that bird again eh? - but this performance was all about Thistle and they way they came at the champions at home.

Rangers may have put six past Dunfermline on Tuesday night in the cup, and well done to them again for that, but that's not the issue here.

Or is it?

Because from where I'm standing, the Celtic support seem as hot and bothered as I would be in a sauna with Carol Vorderman.

It's all about the songs, eh bhoys?

Seemed to be tonight. I'm not going to repeat them, save to say I won't be singing them in a bubble bath with the lassies from Love Island any time soon.

But to the game, which is what we should be talking about.

Celtic won it, with a goal about as welcome as a dug doing a rancid steamer in the middle of the couch when your Auntie is round for afternoon tea and scones.

As for this Champions League stuff, do us a favour Celts and make your mind up what league you actually want to play in. Is it the European elite super super thing or the one where you are actually based? Because believe me we are all bored senseless with your constant Saturday - Wednesday - Saturday folly.

Make your bloody minds up, before we all die of boredom eh? Hoops? Celts?

As for Rangers, they go into a game against Lennon's Leaping Leps with a spring in their tartan tails, a feather in their courageous caps. If I were a Hibee I'd be crapping my breeks like I'd crap myself if that large breasted bird from the internet actually returned my countless messages.

It's not happening right hoops fans, you aren't going to England, you all smell and you won't win the Champions League.

RIGHT???????

Kind of sport related...

In today's Guardian, there is an interview with Rory Kinnear.
Only the last question and answer interests me:

How would you like to be remembered?
As the father of Celtic’s all-time top goalscorer (that’s either of my kids).

Kinnear interview

Did we know he was a fan?

Was just about to come and post the same thing.

Just searched 'Rory Kinnear Celtic' and in an Evening Standard article from 2009, it says something like 'by the time he was studying at Balliol College Oxford, he had given up his dreams of either being a butcher or Celtic goalkeeper.'

Offside question about the Watford equaliser. I thought you were only offside if the ball is played forward? It looks like the first guy is playing the ball backwards or even straight and it deflects off a Liverpool player to take it to the guy that scored. Everyone is saying it was off so just thought I'd see what everyone thought.

His Granda was Scottish, so he must've been the original Tim.

Good read.

Will they be getting an introduction at Celtic Park when they come over for the Hibs game in September?

That's what I thought too, but with all the 'expert pundits' rambling on about it I just kind of assumed I was wrong. Glad to see I'm not the only one that thought that!
