CELTIC 5 KILMARNOCK 0

Bill Leckie at Celtic Park

They say respect has to be earned.

Well, I'd say it also has to be damned well TAUGHT as well.

After Jon Daly hit back at him this week, you'd have thought Brendan Rodgers would have been looking up the "R" word in the dictionary, every night.

And after he'd learnt it's meaning, he'd have applied some to this cup-tie against Kilmarnock.

Did he?

Aye, and he's giving up potatoes for Lent next year too.

Big crowd at home, travelling support, sponsored competition. Showpiece stuff.

Yet Brendan puts out a side made up of kids, blacks and the odd experienced pro.

Hell mend him.

I've written enough over the years about how Celtic think they have a right to win every game they play in, every competition they enter. And it makes my blood boil to it's loyal limit.

But here, what does Rodgers do? Spits in the face of the first cup competition of the season. He'd have been as well sending Tierney and Co out in CLOWN costumes for all he took this game seriously.

And yes you can point to Champions League play-offs and trebles and invincible records blah-ded-fiddly-dee-jig blah.

Bottom line is this game should be replayed with a full strength Celtic side giving full focus on a SCOTTISH competition. Not the showpiece UEFA thing which ironically uses a priest as it's signature music.

Perhaps THAT'S why you love it so much eh hoops fans?

Just remember where your bread is buttered.

And shortbread is baked.

I forgot Broadfoot had signed for them - so apparently did the rest of the fans as no booing when he touched the ball last night (he did touch the ball, didn't he?) - anyway, he is standing in front of Kieran when he pulls back his foot to shoot - Broadfoot's face is a delight as he looks at Kieran with a you're joking look and then turns round in disbelief to see the ball in the net

He mentions broony to him but can't make out what else . I'm guessing he's saying something along the lines of " didn't know you were a fan till broony told me " or something similar .

The captain of Mexico's national football team has been sanctioned by the US for allegedly being a "front person" for a major drug-trafficking cartel.
Rafael Marquez was one of 21 people and 42 organisations singled out by the US treasury department for sanctions.
They are all accused of having ties with alleged drug trafficker Raul Flores Hernandez.
Mexican singer Julio Cesar Alvarez is also on the list.
Both he and Rafael Marquez are accused, in a US treasury department statement, of having "longstanding relationships with Flores Hernandez... acted as front persons for him and his DTO [drug-trafficking organisation] and held assets on their behalf".
The statement said the ruling meant that any assets of theirs under US jurisdiction or controlled by people in the US would be frozen.
Rafael Marquez, 38, has represented Mexico in four World Cups and won over 140 international caps in two decades with the national side.
Having played for European club sides Monaco and Barcelona, where he won the Spanish league four times and the Champions League twice, the defender returned to Mexico in 2015 to rejoin his first club Atlas, where he remains captain.
