Major crowd trouble after Flamengo beat Vasco at the Sao Januario stadium. Vasco fans tried to get on pitch but were kept back by police. Fireworks, rocks and bottles were thrown at police and tear gas was used.

Trouble continued outside as Vasco fans fought with police. Three fans were shot, one died. Visiting fans were locked in the stadium until the violence subsided. Vasco-Fla games are the most troubled in Rio. Usually Vasco move the game to the Maracana as their stadium is a dump in the middle of a very rough area.

Violence at games in Brazil is on the increase. A Corinthians fan was beaten almost to death by Coritiba fans recently.

Apologies in advanced for the Mail link, but a financial firm has went against the grain and warned that some English clubs face ruin in spite of the record television deals.

The banks gave loans to under developed countries and when the countries could not repay these loans the banks / companies involved with these loans said they would scrap the loans in return for their iron ore deposits, their workforce, access to mineral mining and their workforce (or stuff like that).
In the end banks and big business ran these countries, the citizens of the countries never got rich on the riches of their country.
If the TV companies decide to bail out certain football clubs (in essence owning them) would there then be a SKY Premier League with selected companies (like the Champions League) being the only ones putting the money in? Allowing them to have clubs play to the TV companies tune (more than they are at the moment) and only wearing / advertising certain sponsors.

Premier League clubs are hurtling towards bankruptcy due to chronic overspending, according to a new report by financial analysts Vysyble.

This won't help then?

Premier League clubs spend £571m in just over one week... making this summer already the fifth-highest-spending transfer window ever
Transfer spend this summer is already at £571m among top-flight clubs
The transfer window only opened on July 1 and has over a month still to run
Romelu Lukaku's £75m move to Manchester United is the biggest deal so far
The spending record was set last summer, with over £1bn splashed out

After being demoted to the 4th tier, 1860 Munich have moved out of the Allianz Arena, back to their old Grunwalder Stadium. They are going to struggle to meet stadium requirements if they ever get promoted to the top two tiers.

Sad.

Didn't they start as co-owners of the stadium with Bayern?

Just about to post that link...

Imagine him pouring you(never mind making the bloody stuff) a glass of cognac..he would miss the glass and pour it over your new Boss suit you bought for your sister's wedding (once in a lifetime purchase!)

Car crash extraordinaire that guy.
