Reports from China that ex Newcastle midfielder Cheick Tiote collapsed during training and has passed away. He's only 30. It's unconfirmed but the story has been picked up by the BBC amongst others and some of his ex teammates are posting messages of condolence on Twitter.

Does anyone know what hotel the squad stays in the night before a game?

Years back it was Seamill but think MON put a stop to that. I used to think it was the Hilton in Anderson/Charing Cross because there was always a bus parked out the front on midweek games when I was coming home from work. That might have been where the away team was based

League Cup Group Stage draw fixtures (what are they I hear you ask?) give Hearts two away ties in Elgin and Peterhead, both on Tuesday nights. Also gives Hibs an away tie in Dingwall on a Friday night live on TV.

So that's the teams with the biggest away supports in the Group Stage, the teams that smaller clubs are likely to make a bit of money from through gate receipts, travelling a minimum of 160 miles, for 7.45pm KOs.

Never change, SPFL. Never change.

FRASER FORSTER is English to his core but a part of him will forever belong to Glasgow. Sitting inside a cavernous hall inside the Football Association’s impressive St George’s Park training complex a short drive from Burton-on-Trent, the 29 year-old cuts a figure of contentment as he settles down on an incongruous white leather armchair to preview this weekend’s World Cup qualifying tie between Scotland and England at Hampden.

Forster evidently feels at ease at this level. Granted, the Southampton number one would like to ease Joe Hart out of the way to become England’s first-choice goalkeeper but six caps is still a reasonable return at this juncture. And none of that would have been possible, he believe, had he not enjoyed a four-year spell with Celtic. He reflects on that time now as key to his development.

Forster was just 22 when he moved to Scotland for the first of two seasons on loan from Newcastle United, prior to making his move permanent and staying for a further two. He had spent the previous year out on loan at Norwich City but it was Celtic that proved the making of him, giving him a diet of Champions League football and a regular shot at winning silverware.

Three league titles, two Scottish Cups and a famous win over Barcelona suggest it was a transfer that worked well for him. As he prepares to head north again this weekend, he has a lot to thank Scottish football for.

“I can’t express how much I loved my time at Celtic,” he said. “The people I met, the people I got to work with, and the journey we went on together - I loved every minute of being at that club. The fans are amazing and it is just a very special club.

“When I look back at the start of my time in Glasgow, it was really my second full season as a footballer. I had a year at Norwich before I went to Celtic. From the first minute I walked through the door to where the club was when I left, we just went on such a big journey. As a group we all moved forward together and had some great nights in the Champions League. It is a place I will always want to go back to.”

He will head back to Glasgow with the rest of the squad on Friday afternoon ahead of the match at Hampden at 5pm the following evening. He is the only member of the England squad to have played at Scotland’s national stadium before and he is enthused about a return, even if Celtic had an unfortunate habit of sometimes coming unstuck in semi-finals and finals there during Neil Lennon’s time as manager.

“We had a few tough games at Hampden,” he recalled. “We won some, and we lost some. For me it’s a fantastic stadium. It was a strange one for us at Celtic at that time as we were playing well. It was just the way it went in certain games. It’s hard to put your finger on why. So I’ve got mixed memories of Hampden really.

“But I won’t have any fear of going there. It’s one of those stadiums you want to be playing at because it means you must have done well to get there. It will be the first time there for a Scotland England game and I’ve no doubt it will be a great atmosphere. It will be another special night.”

He does not expect a squad replete with players appearing regularly in the Champions League and at major tournaments with England will find their knees knocking at the Hampden atmosphere, even at its most raucous.

“I’m probably the only guy in the England squad who has played there but we’ll go there the night before and the rest of them can see it then. But when you look through our squad and some of the stadia they’ve played in all around Europe, they’ve all got experience of going to tough places. So I don’t think Hampden will particularly faze them.”

Forster will likely take it all in from the substitutes bench or perhaps even a seat in the main stand, with Hart likely to start in goal for England. At 29, though, the Hexham-born player is still relatively young for a goalkeeper and ambition continues to burn brightly from within him.

“I have a lot left to achieve,” he offered. “Moving forward, I still want to be England’s number one and own that shirt. At the minute, all I can do is play as well as I can for Southampton and push Joe Hart for his place. Having had a taste of Champions League football at Celtic, I’d love to experience that again one day.”

FORMER Celtic goalkeeper Fraser Forster has pinpointed his old team-mate Leigh Griffiths as the man England will need to watch out for at Hampden on Saturday. Forster is looking forward to being reunited with several of his former Parkhead pals after Saturday’s World Cup qualifier at Hampden and believes stopping Griffiths will be key to England’s success.

The striker is still awaiting his first international goal after 12 caps but Forster, one of three England goalkeepers in the squad for Saturday’s World Cup qualifier, believes Griffiths is someone the visitors would need to keep close tabs on.

He said: “Leigh is a fantastic player. He has got pace to stretch defences but he can also score from anywhere. He has got a great left foot and can hit target from outside or inside the box. He’s a very tough player to play against. It just takes half a chance or a split-second and he can punish you. He is definitely one player we need to really concentrate on to make sure he doesn’t get that chance.

“You have make sure you are switched on the whole time when you are playing. He has a very short back-lift when he is shooting so he can get the ball away quickly. As a defender or a back four, you can think you have got him in a good position. Then, in a split-second, he can shift the ball and hit it. That is something that is always going to test people.”

Forster also had words of praise for Craig Gordon, the man who succeeded him as Celtic’s number one and who will almost certainly start for Scotland this weekend.

“It’s been fantastic for Craig,” he added. “We only had a few weeks together at the time but I knew the type of keeper he was before the injuries. He still had it. It was just a case of getting up to speed.

“That’s finding what training was best for him, what load of training was best him. You look at the transfer fee he went for a few years ago to Sunderland. That was a while ago and a lot of money at the time, which shows you he’s a great ‘keeper.

“Craig did well in England and he’s got a great habit of keeping the ball out of the net. He’s been working with Stevie Woods [the Celtic goalkeeping coach] and you have no doubts that whatever goalkeeper is in at Celtic, he will get the best out of them and take them to the top of their game.

“Craig’s been superb. He’s worked so hard and very few players would be able to come back from that length of injury and that time with so few games. It tells you the character and mental strength that he has.”

Forster smiles at the mention of Scott Brown’s name, his captain at Celtic and the man who will also lead Scotland at Hampden on Saturday. The midfielder has now spend a decade at Parkhead but Forster has no doubts he would have thrived had he taken the chance to move to England.

“He is a top player,” he added. “You can see what he has done for Celtic and for Scotland. There is absolutely no reason why he couldn’t have done it down here. It’s just his character, the way he goes out and approaches every game, the fact he gives 100 percent in every game and leads by example.

“When times are tough he always stands up and drags people along with him. It was the same around the training ground. He was always a good laugh but as soon as training started it was always about winning for Scott. Those are the sort of people you want to have in your team. He makes everyone lift their own standards.”

Forster also played with James Forrest and Charlie Mulgrew during his four years at Celtic and revealed he is still in touch with many of them. And he has been following their progress this season under Brendan Rodgers.

He added: “I know quite a lot of the lads and it’ll be a bit strange for me as it’s probably the first time I have faced most of them since leaving Celtic. It’ll be a fantastic game and a great night.

“We had a great group of lads when I was there, folk like Joe Ledley, Gary Hooper and Charlie Mulgrew as well. We had such a togetherness within the squad and that was fantastic. If you’ve got that it makes life on the pitch a lot easier.

“I still speak to them quite a bit, especially Scott and Jamesie. It’ll be a strange one. When they have been your team-mates for so long and then you head back to Scotland to face them, it’ll be great to see them.

“You look at the Celtic season and it’s been fantastic. Brendan Rodgers has gone in there and they have really moved forward as a team and with the style of football that they are playing. They won a Treble and finished unbeaten domestically, it’s incredible and it’s quite right there will be a big chunk of Celtic players in that Scotland team.”

Meanwhile, Elgin play Peterhead on a Saturday, and Hearts play East Fife and Dunfermline on Saturdays.

The best bit about that article is the end where it says he has played for his country 97 times after making his debut against Luxembourg in August 2016 . Some schedule they have nae wonder he wants to rap it.

It went on here before Messi and CO got found guilty as well.

He is as good as. The Spanish courts aren't gonna raise an action like this unless they are sure they will win.
