A BIZARRE Old Firm damage row has erupted after it emerged Celtic withheld ticket cash after chasing Rangers for months over an unsettled bill for wrecked toilets.

The Scottish Sun understands Hoops bosses kept around £40,000 owed to the Ibrox side after failing to recoup money for repairs to Celtic Park loos.

It comes after a minority of yob Gers fans trashed toilets in the away end at Parkhead during the Old Firm clash in September last year.

But Rangers chiefs claim talks over the outstanding bill are still “ongoing” – and said they had been left with their own repair bill after the match between the sides on New Year’s Eve.
It’s not been revealed what the nature of these damage claims are.

A source said: “Celtic had been trying to get Rangers to pay up for four months but Rangers refused to stump up the cash.

“Bosses at Parkhead got fed up with being ignored and took the chance to take matters into their own hands by holding back the ticket cash at New Year.

“But Rangers want Celtic to pay for apparent damage caused to Ibrox after the most recent game.

“It’s likely this could drag on for some time.”

Rangers were due around £340,000 in ticket sales from Celtic after the league match at Ibrox on December 31 – which was attended by 7,000 Hoops supporters.

deal between the sides means the away team sell their own tickets then later hand over the proceeds to the home club.

But a chunk of the cash was kept by Parkhead chiefs frustrated over the Ibrox side’s alleged failure to pay the estimated £40k bill for the damage at the earlier game.

We told how loos in the away section at the stadium were trashed after the derby on September 10 with cubicles flattened and toilet seats torn off.

A spokesman for the club said: “As far as we are concerned the matter regarding payment for the significant damage caused to Celtic Park has been resolved.”

But a spokesman for Rangers said: “Both clubs have been in dialogue about this for a period of time now. That dialogue continues.

“Rangers are currently assessing the cost of damage caused during the last Old Firm match at Ibrox.

“Someone will have to bear that price.”

I bet Celtic fans, a minority of yob fans if you will, caused at least 50,000 pounds worth of damage. (insert rolling eyes sarcastic smiley here)

I guess Rangers assessed the cost of removal of the green and white candles in the loo. Given the terrorist threats they had to call a certified bomb disposal technician.

But we broke Joey Garner, so we'll now have to pay his expensive medical bills & compensate them for the billions he could have been sold for this window.

More proof that Swansea are a basket case and not the fairy tale club that they're made out to be. They'll go the way of Portsmouth if they get relegated this season.

Surely the toilets would be covered by the insurance?

Wouldn't that constantly put the price of insurance up if we claimed back damage done by other teams supporters, especially on the scale of damage they done?

Presumably that is why the agreement used to be in place to cover the costs of each set of fans doing damage.

I don't know. I just thought our insurers would handle getting the money off the huns.

I have no idea how much it costs to insure the ground or what our excess is

Check this: http://www.totalsportek.com/money/manchester-united-player-salaries/

Some bizarre salaries in there. Quite a few players that I expected to be on a lot more/a lot less. Absolutely no structure at all, totally all over the place. I'm glad Celtic has a structure in place.
