Sam Martinez the oldest Hibs fan at 106yrs old has sadly passed away, knew him and was friends with his youngest son, feel so sorry for the family and those who knew this remarkable character. He goes to his grave having been the guest of honour as Hibs finally ended their Scottish Cup hoodoo RIP Sam

Swedish top-tier club Gif Sundsvall are having to lock the gates to their ground when they're training because of Pokémon Go.
Apparently a rare Pokémon figure called Magmar can be collected from their pitch and their practice sessions kept gettin interrupted by groups of 30-40 kids looking for it

Forget games against Rangers because it's the Champions League that really gets Celtic fans going - Michael Gannon
Spoiler: click to toggle THE HOOPS made it to the group stage of Europe's elite competition and our writer reckons that is music to the fans' ears. The Green Brigade show off a stunning display for Brendan Rodgers THERE are certain tunes that make people act funny. Some of them get the feet tapping. Other make girlies made a dash for the dance floor that Usain Bolt would be proud off. There are ditties that get the tears flowing and others that get the heart racing. For Celtic fans there’s one tune that does just about all of those things at the same time - and gets the hair standing up on the back of their necks as well for good measure. Zadok the Priest. Otherwise known as the Champions League theme. Hoops punters get all goosebumpy as the first couple of bars - because Celtic fans live for the Champions League. Forget about the Rangers games. Seriously. Fans don’t actually enjoy those matches until the final whistle and they’ve been on the winning side. No, it’s the European games which really gets the blood flowing around Celtic Park. The stadium Fergus McCann built has forged its reputation on Champions League nights. Ask any Hoops punter for their top five atmospheres in recent times and probably four of them would have been in Europe. They might chuck in the 6-2 Old Firm game as well but most will point to the Barcelona, Juventus, Man Utd, AC Milan nights. Special nights when the Europe’s footballing aristocracy came to Glasgow and left dazed and confused. That’s why this week has Celtic fans walking with grins that couldn’t be removed with a blow torch. This afternoon’s draw is like their Christmas Eve and birthday rolled in to one. They can barely contain their excitement. Hoops fans also want something different. They want Real Madrid, Borussia Dortmund, a Manchester City or Chelsea, maybe PSG. A trip to the Bernabeu would float most folk’s boat but Celtic fans should be careful what the wish for. They got to the group stages via the champions route of qualification, but now they are there it’s not time to start treating it as a tourist route. There’s no point fighting to get to this stage then sitting back, counting the dough, while making up the numbers. No one is saying Celts should be aiming to win their group. Finishing second is a huge ask these days. UEFA have done their best to make the competition a cartel for the big boys. They don’t like the upstarts upsetting the natural order too much. It’s going to be brutal at times for a Celtic side that’s only in the early developmental stages under Brendan Rodgers. There will be times when it might get ugly. That’s the way it goes at this level. But that doesn’t mean Celtic should be going in wearing crash helmets. They have enough about them to land a few dull ones of their own. Being realistic, finishing third in the group - and bagging a Europa League knock-out spot beyond Christmas - would be a heck of achievement in Rodgers Revolution: Year One. Anything else would be extraordinary. Even finishing bottom wouldn’t be disaster if there was enough positive moments to soak up along the way. There’s a sense Rodgers won’t be satisfied with just avoiding a few doings though. You just know his side will be hit with an English club in tonight’s draw. It’s surely a certainty. Rodgers is not the kind of guy to bear a grudge but you’d suspect he’d love nothing more than getting it up a few of his critics down south. Martin O’Neill and Gordon Strachan took great delight in beating sides who came north. O’Neill had his Hoops side snarling even when they played English sides in friendlies. Manager Brendan Rodgers It’s a different time and Rodgers doesn’t have the side full of generals O’Neill had. He’s got a week left in the transfer window and Celtic need to use it to tool up. A right back and a creative midfielder are a must. With £30m coming the clubs way from getting there, it would be daft not to use some of it to give themselves a fighting chance. There’s no point in borrowing Madonna’s plane to jet around Europe then getting big Mags from the Horseshoe Bar karaoke to provide the sing song. Celtic fans will accept a few bum notes along the way but just to hear Zadok again will be music to their ears. http://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/opinion/sport/forget-games-against-rangers-because-8698818

That Hope Solo from the US women's team has been banned for six months for calling the Sweden team cowards after they knocked America out in the Olympics. Seems a bit harsh no?

Last in a long list of very public incidents from her. IIRC she was accused of domestic abuse towards her boyfriends and family members, her bf/friend was arrested for DUI whilst driving the team bus at her recommendation and she has a list as long as your arm of disciplinaries and making stupid comments like that.
Think of a female version of Balotelli or similar where their attitude and behaviour far overshadows their ability.

Not that it comes as much of a surprise, but Robbie Keane announced his retirement from international football today - he'll win his last cap against Oman next week.
145 games, 67 goals. Incredible service to his country. It was the only country he ever wanted to play for!

Can see this catching on.
Watch Everton fan dump copies of The Sun newspaper in Glasgow Airport bin in act of Hillsborough solidarity
Spoiler: click to toggle BRIAN Kelly dumped the free copies of the hated paper after seeing them at Glasgow Airport being given away for free. 0:02 / 0:30 Video will play in 0.28 This the moment an Everton fan chucks a stack of Sun newspapers into a bin before flying away on holiday. Brian Kelly dumped the copies of the reviled tabloid after seeing them being given away for free at Glasgow Airport. Mr Kelly, 47, said: “A friend of mine, Tommy Fletcher, who’s a Liverpool fan. said put the lot in the bin and I gladly obliged. “The rivalry obviously doesn’t come into it when this is involved.” Mr Kelly said a couple of other people in the airport watched him but that no-one tried to stop him disposing of the paper, which is hated on Merseyside for its coverage in the wake of the Hillsborough disaster . Brian dumping the Sun Mr Kelly told how he was returning from an Everton match on a coach when news of the April 1989 tragedy filtered through. He said: “When we were coming back to Liverpool on the coaches. The only news we had was on the radio and we heard that one or two Liverpool fans had died.” The scale of the tragedy hit when the Everton fan coaches arrived home at the same time as coaches containing the Liverpool fans. Former Sun editor Kelvin Mackenzie takes another swipe at Scots claiming "Jockestan" taxpayers pay less Mr Kelly said: “You could see something was wrong. On the faces of Liverpool fans coming in there was no expression.” The Sun claimed the “truth” about the disaster was that some Liverpool fans had picked the pockets of the dead and urinated on police. http://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/news/uk-world-news/watch-everton-fan-dump-copies-8699310

In practice it's a two game ban anyway. Bit confused over that actually as reports say she got a 6 month ban AND they terminated her contract with US Soccer (i.e. the national team). So, does that not effectively mean she's barred from playing for the US womens team again?
Why do the damn yanks have to make everything so bleeding confusing with their international contracts and terms like "soccer"?!
