I suppose for the statto it is a great resource, but as a means of determining 'best' or historical trends, I can't believe it proves anything useful. Subjectivity may deem trophies to be more successful than a mean performance level at less successful club during a relatively 'up' period.
Also, they can't predict future trends.
Really? You think that there is not a single thing useful in this? I couldn't have drawn the decline in Scottish football better myself. http://clubelo.com/SCOHenning Berg, despite not being a great manager, is best playing against Ronny Deila's teams (bottom chart). http://clubelo.com/HenningBergWhile I'm not going to watch a graph on a weekend with a scarf and pint in my hand, I think that there is definitely some use. - Quote:

It reminds me of that old Google comparison of disparate charts of things like 'Fatal gunshots in the US' v 'People with green eyes in Haiti' and get remarkably similar lines.
Some of these are marvelous. http://tylervigen.com/spurious-correlations Celtic - Artmedia is numerically one of the top 5 biggest upsets of all time on that stat website.

Five top US women footballers sue for better pay
Five senior members of the World Cup-winning US football team have filed a lawsuit against the national federation for wage discrimination. Alex Morgan, Carli Lloyd, Megan Rapinoe, Becky Sauerbrunn and Hope Solo say they are paid less than half of what the male USA players receive. "The numbers speak for themselves," said goalkeeper Solo in a statement. The US Soccer Federation said it was disappointed, given the work it had done in building the women's game. American women's football has dominated the international game in recent decades, with a string of titles. "We are the best in the world, have three World Cup Championships, four Olympic Championships, and the USMNT [men's team] get paid more just to show up than we get paid to win major championships," said Solo. Her team-mate Lloyd, who was named the best player at last year's World Cup, said they had been patient over the years in waiting for action to deliver fair pay. Carli Lloyd (number 10) celebrates a goal in the World CupImage copyrightReuters
Former Everton and LA Galaxy winger Landon Donovan - who won 157 caps for the US men's team - tweeted his support for the women's team's cause. "#USWNT absolutely deserve to be treated fairly in all ways," he said. "Important to remember that these issues are/can be collectively bargained." The lawsuit against the US Soccer Federation was filed with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission on Thursday morning. One of the lawyers representing the players, Jeffrey Kessler, said the women's game generated more income for US Soccer than the men's and it was time to address the "discriminatory and unfair treatment'' they have endured for years. The five players were acting on behalf of all the players, he said. There has been an ongoing legal battle between the federation and the players' union over collective bargaining. A statement from US Soccer said it had not yet seen the complaint. But it added: "We have been a world leader in women's soccer and are proud of the commitment we have made to building the women's game in the United States over the past 30 years."

Under performing manager at club, who most fans want sacked, awarded new lengthy multi year contract.
The Chief executive of the Scottish Premier League football club, also deeply unpopular with the fans for Oh I don't know a million reasons a year, probably said...
"The current manager is my pet vanity project, I don't care what the fans say, why should I? my heated driveway worked all winter so who gives a toss what those plebs think LOL"
The majority shareholder in the Scottish Premier League football club was quoted as saying "Wait... What? I own a football club? Really? You know, I've been too busy on the celebrity Pro/Am golf tour I must have completely forgot"
A supports group representative which we pure didn't make up, honest we didn't!, apparently said "We're outraged, outraged and incensed! Outraged, incensed and frankly devastated to the point of tears"
Happy unoriginal un-humorous attempt at deception

Scorching player on form I'll always remember watching football Italia and seeing him make his debut for Inter, scoring two stunning goals in the process. I thought he was going to become an era defining player. Brilliant player on his day and at one point one of the highest, if not the highest, paid player in the world. Didn't expect him to play until 40 though.

Anyone know if this is true?

If it is true, I wouldnt be arguing for equal pay, I'd be arguing for more than the men. It's a real complicated case. The women are all contracted employees of US Soccer, where as men are not. Then there is the who brings in more money, The Women will point to last year and say "look at all the money" we bring in. That was a WC year, where the numbers are going to be skewed. US Soccer is saying not so fast, let's look at the last four years and see what's up. Anyways, it'll be interesting to see how this plays out, both in the US and if FIFA get involved.

For me, i consider women's football just the same as men's. I don't look at them as different sports as such just because they're women... Now, I watch the best standard (in my opinion) of football at different levels (i watch a lot of amateur football, youth football as well as pro games live and on the telly). If women's football was anywhere near the level of men's then I'd watch more of it. Now, women's football has came on leaps and bounds but the comparative standard at every level - men's football is light years ahead... Be it amateur, club or,international.
So, moving on from this, I believe that the better the player / team, the more they should get paid. Regardless of sex. In the world of football, the female product is in general quite inferior to the men's.
However, if you look at the women's game in isolation and compare it to 10years ago - it's a far better standard and will continue to improve.

Just been speaking to one of the great unwashed outside the bookies. He was gloating over the news that Peterhead had only flogged 1700 tickets for the Petrified Cup. I said "maybe their supporters don't give a f##k about a diddy cup?" He replied "Aye, maybe you're right" - few seconds pause then "Bastard!!!) Made my day

Spoiler: click to toggle “Think before you post or you may receive a visit from us this weekend” Greater Glasgow Police has threatened people with home visits if they send out inaccurate or “hurtful” tweets in a bizarre message posted earlier today. “Think before you post or you may receive a visit from us this weekend. Use the internet safely. #thinkbeforeyoupost,” states the tweet which was sent out this morning. The tweet includes a series of checked boxes with the words, “Before you post…think!” “Is it true?” “Is it hurtful?” “Is it illegal?” “Is it necessary?” “Is it kind?” This is good news for burglars, rapists and murderers. Apparently, Greater Glasgow Police are more interested in hunting down the authors of mean or inaccurate tweets than stopping actual crime. It is important to note that there is no indication that this was an April fools joke, although after the backlash they might claim it was anyway. Twitter users reacted to the threat with total disdain. “Oh look it’s the thought Police threatening people’s universal human rights,” responded one. “I never thought I’d see the day when the “Internet Police” became a real thing,” added another. Others chose to make their own versions of the tweet. This is not the first time that police in Scotland have threatened to harass people for their free speech. Last year we reported on how Police Scotland announced their intention investigate “offensive comments” made on Twitter and other social media platforms. “Please be aware that we will continue to monitor comments on social media & any offensive comments will be investigated,” stated the tweet. Last week, a man in Croydon, London had his apartment ransacked and was arrested by police for inciting racial hatred via social media after he criticized Muslim immigration in the aftermath of the Brussels terror attack. The charges against Matthew Doyle were subsequently dropped and he vowed to sue the Metropolitan Police but later changed his mind. http://www.prisonplanet.com/uk-police-force-threatens-home-visits-for-inaccurate-tweets.html
