Former St. Pauli player Deniz Naki has been banned for 12 matches by the Turkish FA over some FB posts where he called for peace with the Kurds.

Here's a cracking wee football story. This is the local amateur team from my brother and sister in law and nieces home town Noordwijkerhout in the Netherlands. They've just managed to make the semi final of the Dutch Cup. They beat Den Bosch in the quarters after being 2-0 down. Three goals in the last 10 minutes won the match for them. Fantastic stuff. Would be wonderful if the could go all the way to the final now.
A cautionary tale for the Hoops perhaps. :twitch:

The fitness vests we have been wearing for a while now, seems to be asked quite often what they are, some information on them: http://www.performbetter.co.uk/performance-monitoring/catapult-athlete-tracking-systems/

Is that what's making players appear like they have a wee lump at the top of their back? Look a bit hunchbacky.

Southampton will be without Victor Wanyama for six weeks after the FA confirmed his red card against West Ham will mean a five-match ban.

It was the third time the 24-year-old midfield man had been sent off this season, adding two extra games to the three matches for his horror tackle on Dimitri Payet.

The Kenyan was dismissed for two yellow cards against Bournemouth in November and again for being booked twice against Norwich at the start of January.

CELTIC Football Club is delighted to announce that it has named Davie Hay and Tom Boyd as new Ambassadors of the Club. Davie and Tom join the great Billy McNeill in this role, who was named an Ambassador in 2009.

Davie Hay made 293 appearances for Celtic and lifted five League Championships, two Scottish Cups and one League Cup as a player. As manager, he brought the League Championship and Scottish Cup to Celtic Park in 1986 and 1985 respectively.

Former captain Tom Boyd made 407 appearances for the club and played his part in winning three League Championships, three League Cups and two Scottish Cups.

Both men have had a long and close association to the Club, they already have important connections to Celtic FC Foundation and Celtic Pools and will now also join Celtic as Ambassadors, where they will represent the Club at a range of events.

Celtic Chief Executive Peter Lawwell said: “Everyone at the Club is delighted that Davie and Tom have accepted our invitation to become Ambassadors for the Club. Both men have made such huge contributions to the Club over so many years and we wanted to recognise this in some way.

"Davie and Tom are figures who have such stature and command great respect and I am sure our supporters will welcome them to the Club in these roles as they join Billy McNeill, another of Celtic’s greatest ever servants.”

Davie Hay said: “It is a tremendous honour for me to be recognised in this way by Celtic and I am very grateful to the Club for making this gesture. I have always been a Celtic supporter and Celtic has been such a big part of my life for so many years.

"I have tremendous memories from my playing days and those times in management where I was fortunate to bring some success to the Club. I have made sure that I always tried to remain close to the Club and I am very much looking forward to continuing this close association in this role."

Tom Boyd said: “Celtic will always be my Club and will always be one of the greatest institutions in world football. It was an honour to represent Celtic as a player and as captain and of course to now take on this role as Ambassador is something I am also extremely proud of.

"It is very humbling to be recognised in this way and I am looking forward to representing and serving the Club in any way I can.”

Celtic legend and Club Ambassador Billy McNeill is delighted with today’s announcement and added: “I was delighted when I heard that the club were appointing Davie and Tom as Ambassadors.

"I have known both of them for many years and I am sure they will represent the Club with the same pride and dignity as they showed when wearing the Hoops.

"Celtic has a rich history and is renowned throughout the footballing world so it is very fitting to have ambassadors such as Davie Hay and Tom Boyd who personify everything the club stands for.”

Not usually one for throwing the rattle but if this happens I am done with the Champions league:

Europe's biggest clubs are working with Uefa to review the format of the continent's elite competition.

European Club Association chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has suggested the top clubs should get direct entry into the lucrative Champions League.

The process is expected to last no longer than nine months.

Should just form a Europe Super League and form a relegation/promotion system for the national leagues already. It's clearly where their headed.

Players’ Union demands synthetic pitch research

Ewing Grahame

Wishart has called on the game’s ruling bodies to prevent more senior clubs installing plastic pitches until proper research has been done on the damage they can do to players and the game itself.

Twelve of the 42 SPFL clubs play on 3G surfaces and many players – in some cases, leading goalscorers – are left out by their managers when they visit certain grounds due to the impact the synthetic turf has on their joints.

Just over a month later, what happened?
