I remember watching that game. The atmosphere at that game, for the whole 90 minutes, was amazing (excluding that carrot with the wig and bell). The fans were nonstop.

From an article in today's Guardian about touchline behaviour at kids' games, the quote made me laugh:

“eff off back behind the effing Respect Barrier!”:

Ex-Celtic player talks sense in the media.
It'll never catch on and will likely be dismissed or mischief making.

No challenge to Celtic from Rangers ‘for two years’

EWING GRAHAME

FORMER Celtic skipper Tom Boyd believes it will take Rangers years before they are in a position to challenge for the Premiership title even if they manage to win promotion this season.

Boyd, who captained Celtic to their last domestic treble in 2001, claims that Celtic have too much financial muscle for the Championship leaders, arguing that it would take a massive investment of new cash to make Mark Warburton’s men genuine contenders.

Ibrox chairman Dave King has said he expects Rangers to have a chance of pipping their Old Firm rivals for a shot at Champions League qualification in 2017 but Boyd claims that is overly optimistic.

Had an interesting wee chat with one of the coach's of my laddies team. Seemed one of the players had been training and playing with another club which they aren't keen on. Long story short he left my boys side and joined with this 'top tier' club which was, yup Celtic. The young lad (6 years old roughly) is a good player, definitely head and shoulders above the majority though he, like most of them, rarely passes the ball. Definitely a good wee player though.

interesting thing was the coach was adamant it was a bad move for him, developmentally. He said he's worked with a lot of the big club youth coaches and he wasn't impressed. Said that even at that age they still focus too much on the physical rather than technical. Could just be sour grapes, to be honest if Celtic wanted to sign my son how could I say no? I do wonder if they're better off at a wee academy style organisation rather than a pro club. Everything is about fun for these kids. I've watched them play 'matches' on loads of occasions and when they lose there is absolutely nothing said other than 'did you have fun?'.

Edit to say: The attitude of all of the coaches in my sons side is fantastic. How they have the patience I don't know but it's brilliant to see.

Klopp: "I can't forget this effing loss to Crystal Palace. If we'd won this, I would say my first ten games were OK."

Roma's players were greeted by 50kg of carrots when they turned up for training on Tuesday, with a group of fans branding them "rabbits" for their recent defeats.

A 6-1 loss at Barcelona in the Champions League was followed up by a 2-0 defeat at home to Atalanta, and a group of fans chose the team's return to training on Tuesday to vent their anger, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport.

"Enjoy your meal, you rabbits," said a banner held aloft by a group of fans, having blocked the entrance to Trigoria with seven crates of carrots.

After being told to leave by security staff, the fans placed the banner against a wall and spread the carrots on the floor in front.

Sunday's defeat to Atalanta saw the Giallorossi fall four points behind league leaders Napoli, while they need to beat BATE Borisov in their final Champions League group game in just over a week to progress to the last-16 after last week's humiliating defeat.

I coach an U-7 football team. At u-7 and u-8 the emphasis is on player development, creating a safe environment where players can develop withot fear of making mistakes. We discourage parents from asking their kids, "Did yiou win?" or "did you score?", what we tend to ask them after training and matches is "What did you enjoy?" and "What did you not like?" and absolutely "Did you have fun?"

At that age, we emphasise the social side of football as much as the technical development side. Respect and teamwork and enjoying the game are all far more important than results. This should be the same approch whether the kids are playing for a local side or an Academy team. The downside for the kids once they sign for an academy team is that they can only play for the academy team, rather than the team that most of their mates are still playing for.

The upside is the facilities at an Academy club are fantastic - I've taken my lads to Sunderland's training ground a few times for friendlies, and the set up is unbelievable.

I would be definitely hard pushed to decide what to do if Jemser jnr was in the same situation.
