BBC:

1860 Munich fans face Bayern Munich shopping trip or jail

"I wanted to show that football is football and not a battlefield."

These are the words of judge Karin Jung, who gave two 1860 Munich fans the choice to buy Bayern merchandise for a fan they attacked - or spend 15 months in jail.

The defendants, who refused to name a third person involved when they ripped the jacket, shirt and straw hat off the Bayern fan last year, opted for the pride-swallowing trip to the rival club store.

"I thought about what would be really painful to them, and doing something like this really bothers this type of people," Jung - who got the victim's consent for the quirky sentence - told Bild newspaper.

This was no cheap shopping trip though as according to their lawyer, the accused parted with around £350 each in compensation as well as handing over a Bayern hat, scarf and jersey in court.

I see Messi gets off lightly again, this time, booked for a throat grab and headbutt (of sorts).

I wish the big Roma bloke had knocked out the petulant wee fud.

I wonder why the paper didn't describe them as South Germany football fans :ponder: :ph43r:

I remember Ferguson 8 coming out with the "it's the way of the way of the foreigner" tosh a few years ago. It's racist and should be treated as such by the SFA.

we attended it a couple of years back. it was a cracking event and has been posted on kds before. my family is from barga and i know some of the Gatti Randagi guys, iam just back from barga two weeks ago. some of our guys (myself inculded) are in the bar room snap on that blog (didnae ask my permission):)
the thing is:
back in the souness days the huns used to train at Il Ciocco a big hotel in the hills with crackin training facilities. the huns would wander around barga in their trackies and all the locals thought this was cool. a couple of the bars even had their team photos on the walls alongside milan, italy and the like. i used to spend the whole summer there and it was effin hideous when they were in town. couple of local lads cut about in gifted hun tops for years.
it was at il ciocco that le petite merde got a punching for trying to get off with the bride at her function in the hotel.

anyhoo, aye the wee convention is cool, well run and very friendly. we're talking about getting to it again soon.
