A little segment on the BBC South East news about homophobic abuse directed towards Brighton fans from about 75% of opponents this year

"We can see you holding hands"

"Does your boyfriend know you're here?"

No wonder there's no gay footballers dared come out :nono:

You scored 10 out of a possible 10

You're either very Brent or very Brendan. Or spend a lot of time Googling quotes

Taribo West older than he claimed

Quote:

Former Nigeria defender Taribo West, who played for Internazionale and Derby County among other clubs, has been accused of lying about his age.

West, who retired in 2008, is listed as 39 years old today in his Wikipedia profile, but former Partizan Belgrade president Zarko Zecevic, says he has already passed the age of 50.

The defender joined the club in 2002, leaving two years later.

But despite the enormous gap between West’s stated age and his alleged actual age, Zecevic says he is still glad that he signed the player.

“He joined us saying he was 28. We only later found out he was 40, but he was still playing well so I don’t regret having him on the team,”' Zecevic said.

West, Croatian media reports claim, also then tried to join Rijeka some years later, saying he was 32, but was in fact 44 at the time.

He did not sign for them, but had a brief spell at Plymouth and finished his career in Iran at Paykan FC, by which time, if Zecevic is correct, West would have been 46.

West was part of Nigeria’s Olympic gold-medal winning football team of 1996. Several members of that squad, including Nwinkwo Kanu and Jay-Jay Okocha, have been accused of being many years older than officially stated.

It was on SSN last night too.

It's 2013 and folk are still using "gay" as a derogatory comment :ffs:

There's nothing wrong with being homosexual, effing dinosaurs. Justin Fashanu was a brave man and the fact he felt he had to take his own life because of who he was is sickening.

I recall reading similar reports regarding the great Tony Yeboah, whilst still playing World Soccer listed his dob at a rather suspicious 06/06/66, he was rumoured to be a good deal older.

The 12 Corinthian fans held in prison in Bolivia for a month still haven't been told what they're charged with. They were held after someone in their area let off a firework which hit a Bolivian kid and killed him. It all seems very Kafkaesque.

Some of the "stick to baseball" abuse he generates is equally amusing, if only to laugh at those .... 'Duped' (word of the month).

I'm sure he's provided commentary for a few of our American pre-season friendlies :suspect:

the actual American commentators for (EPL) games are shampooe. little wonder they usually bring in an English team (eg Darke and McManaman).
