So the SFA have f***ed us for getting a world cup pot 2 place in favour of a wee trip for themselves

Quote:

Scottish Football Association chiefs may have scored a spectacular World Cup own goal by agreeing to play Qatar in a friendly.
Scotland will face the Gulf nation at Easter Road in June before they face Ireland in a crucial Euro 2016 encounter in Dublin.
But by facing Qatar, Scotland may have shot themselves in the foot when it comes to the World Cup 2018 qualifying draw in Russia in July.
Scotland are currently on the brink of securing the last place in Pot Two of seeds, which would be a huge boost for Gordon Strachan's side.
However, because of the complicated way FIFA's World Rankings work, by agreeing to face Qatar - a nation currently ranked 99th by world football's governing body, even a win against the oil-rich country could work against Scotland when it comes to Rankings points because of both their lowly position and being a member of the Asian Football Confederation, which isn't ranked as highly as UEFA nations.
And it would mean Scotland sliding into Pot Three for the July 25 draw, which will be held in Konstantinovsky Palace in St Petersburg.
If Scotland had decided not to take the fixture against Qatar - a country where an SFA delegation of chief executive Stewart Regan, president Campbell Ogilvie and vice-president Rod Petrie visited on a fact-finding mission in February - they would have known that a victory over Ireland in the Aviva Stadium would have guaranteed them a Pot Two place.
The rankings are based on the last four years' results, with results in the past 12 months counting for more than those in the preceding years and points are averaged out according to the number of matches played in a year.
It would mean that even a win over Qatar would affect Scotland's average points in the Rankings because of the relatively low points a win would collect. A draw or defeat to the World Cup 2022 hosts in Edinburgh would end all hopes of that Pot Two place.
Respected football statistical prediction site We Global Football summed up the SFA's decision to play the friendly against Qatar by commenting: "While Scotland has been doing OK in qualifying, they've completely screwed the pooch when it comes to scheduling.
"Arranging a friendly with Qatar will only hurt them further. They had a chance to get into Pot 2, but they've failed to do the things necessary to get there. Even still, if they win at Ireland and didn't play Qatar, they should have been able to get in."
FIFA will use their Rankings for July 2015 to decide seeds. Pots will be split into nine teams per pot, apart for smaller pots near the bottom end of the seeding.
The SFA declined to comment on the matter last night.

That'll be some of that world class football administration coming into play...

Brilliant stuff.

Wee Gordy will be spitting feathers at this.

Used to be similar in Scotland. League Cup final, 1963, Morton v huns, the Daily Record of the day had a couple of pages, iirc, of Morton songs to be sung at the game. Something like 105,000 turned up for the final! :o

Watch as Celtic wag Lisa Hague dances on table singing 'ten in a row' infront of packed pub
Jane Hamilton

HAGUE was a guest of Neilston CSC to watch her boyfriend take on Aberdeen and see the league champions given a guard of honour by the Pittodrie side.

CELTIC WAG Lisa Hague celebrated winning the league with an away-day trip to Aberdeen on a supporters bus.

Hague, who recently got engaged to the Celtic star, was a guest of Neilston CSC to watch her future husband take on Aberdeen and see the league champions given a guard of honour by the Pittodrie side.

But before they arrived at the stadium the bus stopped at a club and cheery Hague gave the Celtic fans a treat.

The 30-year-old jumped onto a pool table and joked 'You can never let Kris Commons know about this' before leading supporters into the song 'Here we go ten in a row'.

Cheeky supporters took to social media and posted the video onto micro-blogging site Twitter.

Lisa Hague
Some joked that her 'secret' was safe and Commons wouldn't find out. She is currently fundraising for Marie Curie in Glasgow and aiming to raise £30,000 for the Stobhill hospice.

They all give out song sheets. I've still got mine from a Colorado Rapids game.Their big tune was:

Build a bonfire, build a bonfire
Put [team name] on the top
Put Salt Lake in the middle
And we'll burn the effing lot

Basic gist - it is in French - is that Peter Mangs, a killer who shot numerous folk in the city of Malmo in the 2009-10 period, admitted that at one point in Malmo he had seen Ibrahimovic's car badly parked in the city and was angered by this to the extent that he went home to fetch his gun intending to kill the footballer when he returned to his car. Fortunately for Ibra he had already left before Mangs got back to the scene.

:o

One of Sweden's most notorious killers has revealed that he came close to murdering Zlatan Ibrahimovic over the way he parked his car.

Peter Mangs, who was jailed for two murders and eight attempted murders in 2010, writes in a new book that the striker's penchant for parking his Ferrari on the pavement had made him angry.

“I thought there would be a proper hullabaloo in the media if the gent in question were to be shot,” he writes in his book after spotting the PSG forward's car in Malmo, where the striker has a multi-million pound home.

Mangs - a known xenophobe said the parking displayed 'typical Balkan behaviour,' alluding to Ibrahimovic's eastern European heritage.

However, Mangs was unable to put a bullet in the former Barcelona and Inter Milan forward, as Ibrahimovic had sped off by the time the killer returned with his pistol.

Blackpool-Huddersfield, which was abandoned on 48 minutes after Blackpool fans invaded the pitch, has been decided to end as a draw.

Surely Huddersfield should get the 3-0 win. Had they won they would have finished above Leeds and presumably received more in their prize money.

somehow got onto looking at the belgian league and found out their ridiculous playoff methods

"Teams ranked 15th and 16th after the regular season enter the relegation playoff. It consists of 5 games between the 2 teams. The 15th-placed team starts the playoffs with 3 points whereas the 16th-placed team starts from zero. The loser of the relegation playoff is relegated to the second division. The winner of that playoff enters the Belgian Second Division Final Round with 3 teams from the second division. The winner of this Final Round plays in the First Division the season thereafter."

and that's just for the bottom of the table
