We're two full backs short, and have taken 2 punts in the centre half position for low fees rather than spending to get one bona fide (as much as can be) solution. Not a great window for me.

It’s a decent enough window to tide us over until the end of the season.

Due to a mixture of loans ending, players getting older and or moving on. We could end up with a hell of a rebuilding job in the summer.

How is an experienced CB from a Bundesliga team who's played over 150 games at Bundesliga and Serie A level and has a Germany cap a "punt"

A week ago it was panic stations. We looked like we weren't going to splash the cash and tbh we still haven't really?

The loan signing is what it is. He isn't our player but we will use him and be better for it.

Few projects signed and an experienced defender. Happy enough with what we have. Hopefully the 2nd half of the season, we can limit the injuries to key players as the whole first half of the season we have literally been littered with injured players/players returning/players breaking down again etc.

The Summer window is probably where we will see our main changes made. A few positions that need upgrading as well as players hitting the worthless or sell date in their contracts.

The manager will be fuming. He wanted lots of quality additions and no other type of player. "Just two more £5m signings, I'm not counting Compper" I believe was what he said, or at least meant. Yet the clappy happers will be delighted.

Mediocre window at best.

Compper - I like the idea but I'm not sure I like him as the actual. Obviously haven't seen him play for us yet.

Morgan - who knows? A project playing at a low level. We won't even see him till next season at least.

Hendry - another project. Not good enough for our first team at present.

Bain - emergency on loan signing who will probably play one game max. This leaves the worrying prospect of De Vries as our number one through the big games. Gordon was unchallenged by De Vries. A big drop in standard (and I'm no fan of Gordon).

Musonda - potentially a great signing. A bums on seat signing. Hopefully not playing as winger though. It was a 10 we needed and I hope that's where we see him. He looks the part though.

Outs

Didn't really do much on the deadwood. As usual, best we can cobble together are loans (bar Henderson).

Haven't strengthened at goalkeeper, right back or centre half. Given they are our main weak spots this is worrying. Don't see much hope of progressing in Europe. We need to strengthen defence for qualifiers in Summer. Again, we will potentially be bedding guys in or going with what we have.

A rare glint of sunlight in the pit of darkness that is supporting Celtic these days.

We’re stronger now than we were on the 31st of December. I don’t think there were ever going to be wholesale changes. The squad had achieved a huge amount domestically and the manager is obviously loyal to those players. Some of them have experienced a dip in form but adding these extra bodies and giving key players a rest could revitalise us. If the likes of Sinclair or Dembele can hit the heights of last season we’ll be flying again.

Agree on RB and GK, but I would like to think we have strengthened at CB. Compper on paper is an upgrade on Erik (and hopefully Ajer/Jozo). Doesn't always pan out that way of course but seems likely.

It was a solid window, saved from very underwhelming due to the signing of Musonda.

The rebuild job is going to be huge in the summer, were already looking like needing a new keeper and right back added to the current squad and with the likely outgoings of Dembele, Roberts, Armstrong and Boyata/Jozo thats the core of a team wiped out.

It's good that we know this far in advance and we can get prepared but let's face it, were Celtic and we will leave it all to get sorted in the last week of August

The squad is stronger than it was before the window so no panty wetting here.

When does the next transfer window open?*

If we look at the team from midweek against Jambos and add in the following, we’ve had worse transfer windows ...

1. We kept all our key players for the treble run in - Europa League run a bonus

2. Griff, Paddy, Rogic, Armstrong, Lustig, Ralston will all be fit again by the end of February; Gordon, Hayes a bit longer

3. Christie also due back from loan in the summer from sheep - big issue in the squad will be competition for places !

4. We had more than half the team against Jambos aged 21or under

5 We brought in 5 players who augment existing squad - 4 of whom (Bain excepted) would have been targeted from window opening

6 We played 3 at the back midweek and will do more often so don’t need FBs - we need wing backs - KT fits that bill plus can drop for a 4

7. We have any 3 from 5 for the back 3 - Hendry, Compper, Boyata, Ajer and Simunovic

8. After a year ‘acclimatising' we have ‘unknown’ Kouassi now capable of anchoring our defensive misfield releasing Ntcham forward

9. Up front we have any 2 from 3 until Edouard / Dembele situation resolves itself

10. We will likely move for targets early in summer window (1st July to end August) when player contracts traditionally run out

11. We will release / sell players who won’t be with us for next season to trim large squad

12. We can only register additional 3 players for Europa League tonight, so Musonda, Hendry and Bain (for Benyu, Shiavchenko and Gordon)

We’ve had worse transfer windows - much worse - so give Brendan the time to identify and mould players into his exciting and successful team

I'd hope that the majority of the money made from Moussa, Armstrong and Jozo would go back into replacements for those core positions. My guess is that we'd make around £30m for those 3 players...

Ntcham looks like he's taking the Armstrong role. If Paddy Roberts is interested in a permanent move we should do what we can to make it happen.

Dread to think about the Summer Transfer Thread as we search for the new striker and two new CBs

And we'd still need a RB and GK on top of that. :twitch:

Hardly. Five in, five out. One huge talent, one experienced centre half, and two Scottish born players that everyone in the game has been raving about.

We'll do more in the summer as well. Maybe Edouard on a permanent deal, plus a right back.

Life is good.
