The swuad looks very tired to me. Could just be the result of a really long and, ultimately, successful season. I have the worst feeling that we'll try and get through the CL qualifiers with what we have, with the additions of plugging some gaps when people leave. As has always been the case, we'll only do serious recruitment if and when we qualify for the Champions League. That might change if Dembele or Tierney leaves. The money sitting in the bank is a rainy day fund, I reckon.

Don't get me wrong, I really think the teams needs turned over now. Rodgers has managed to squeeze so much out of the team that Deila had. This might be the perfect opportunity for that with so many names linked to other clubs and some good money in the bank to get it done with.

But honestly, I'm so used to being led through a transfer window on the hope that something big will happen and being ultimately disappointed, I don't think this window will be much different. I'd so love to be wrong though.
Yup. Same as it ever was. The philosophy always seems to be to make do with what we have and see if that will get us qualified.

Then we duly qualify and decide that that's the job done, those that were good enough to get us there will be good enough for the group stage and anyway we've no chance of qualifying so what's the point in throwing millions of pounds at it....? :brickwall:

Ki has been linked with AC Milan, Everton etc. We’ve no chance sadly.
Both of which are about the same level as us at present. They do have more money tbf.

I have no trust in Congleton to deliver good players. Bizarre he's at the club in the position he's in given his track record.

Perhaps a manager who is a poor judge of player ability would think Congerton a positive addition given his history of equally poor recruitment.

Bain,Hendry,Morgan,Compper,Musonda,Benyu,Ntcham,Hayes and Edouard are our most recent signings.

I don't think anyone should be getting their hopes up of the strategy changing.

Would love to see us get Edouard & wee Roberts signed up.

I can't wait for a bit of transfer window action, it's like playing the gamblers. You know there's not much chance of winning, but it's the excitement that gets you every time. Look how glad we all were to get Musonda and look what he's done so far. Most of it takes place in the mind anyway, might as well enjoy the ride!

This summer will be interesting, not an appointment that looked great at the time but I was willing to give him an opportunity before airing concern.

more or less and it fits with him barely getting a game.

Says he wants to play in England next season.

In 2016/2017 Celtic finished 30 points ahead of Aberdeen. The gap to rangers in third was 39 points.
In the season just ended Celtic finished nine points ahead of Aberdeen and twelve ahead of rangers.

Has the gap between Celtic closed due to the improved performances by Aberdeen & rangers?
The tables suggest otherwise. Aberdeen are three points down on their 2016/2017 total and rangers are three points up on their previous total.

It looks as though we have stalled, or gone backwards so it is important for us to refresh our squad or to get the players playing better, especially at home and in Europe (the results against PSG were embarrassing).

This transfer window and the next one in January will be important ones for us, in who leaves and who comes in.
And going with the lack of goals from Dembele and Sinclair a striker will need to be brought in or they both (or one of them) will need to find their scoring boots again.

Bain looks good
Hendry has potential despite the hysterical reaction on here to every performance
Morgan we'll see
Compper seemed exactly what we needed, but he's been the invisible man
Musonda didn't work but seemed like a great deal at the time
Benyu was a cheap project
Ntcham is exactly the type of player we should be after
Hayes was the best non Celtic player in Scotland for 2 seasons
Edouard like Ntcham has been excellent, even better because he was try before you buy

At the time I had no objection to any of those deals, maybe Hayes but at that price it was no big deal. Difference being at the time we have needed squad players and took a punt on some projects, now we're needing 3 or 4 guys to walk straight into the first team.

Aye when Armstrong goes we'll need a MF who wants to get into the box, Ki and Ntcham would probably be too similar. Not that I'd complain if we signed him, he's a class player.

Chances of us buying any quality are slim again.

Personally I'd bring in two center halves and a RB. Saw Ajer got a deal but don't think he's the answer yet.
Need RW if Paddy is away to keep Forrest on his toes. I'd expect Armstrong and or Rogic away so replacements maybe needed there.
Dembele should be replaced by Edouard. Probably look for a project CF to back up Griffiths and French Eddy.

Anybody have any thoughts on roughly what kind of transfer budget BR should expect to have this summer? Pretty major upgrade needed, I think.

(Obviously wages will be a significant factor if we're signing first team players; but hopefully there will be some kind of money coming in from sales.)

Is Nadir Ciftci going to come rolling back into Celtic Park this preseason, or is his deal up yet?
