It's a strange one. He plays well when picked and looks very promising so i wonder what is stopping him getting more game time. I know he's raw and a bit tactically nieve, but these are things that imrove with games so if he isn't getting games for us we should loan him out to develop.
Think Kouassi would be a really good player for a bottom half epl team. Has a lot of energy and is a good tackler but just dont know if he's technical enough to play cm in a team doing most of the attacking. His best game was Zenit at home and hasnt made much of an impression otherwise. He was meant to be a replacement for brown but dont think hes got the discipline to player that role.

Next season will be a big one for him
Brown is not going to be replaced. Because he can't be. As a determined defensive midfielder who gets stuck in, I'd take Shinnie. Among the weak Aberdeen core, he is the one player who tries like feck, and has a good attitude. Hard as nails and could be developed by Brendan maybe?

Take him as back up left back. Never a midfielder though, far too rash.

We seen plenty of opponents in Europe who completely outplayed us that could step into Brown's position with ease....now if we could attract them is another matter but a class above no question

Each transfer window since Rodgers appointment (aside from the first) has been a significant let down. We need serious strengthening at the back and some quality out wide too. I also worry about playing big games if Brown gets injured. We look lost as a team without his presence.

2 years in a row in the Champions League, attendances and merchandise sales are at the highest in years and the additional money from VVD means that we should have money to spend on quality.

I honestly feel we need a couple of big signings this summer in the 5/6 mil to give the players and support a lift
Also another couple between 3/4 mil would be nice
I have no clue who I would have will leave that for Brendan to sort out

There's no way we're spending £20million this summer. Even though we could and maybe we should, I just don't see that level of investment. Well, that is unless KT or Dembele are sold for a vast amount of money.

Dembele will be away plus a few others, we might need to spend 20million just to replace them. I think we'll need 6-8 new signings this summer.

Rather strange Gordon Parks article about us loaning players and it stifling development of our own players.

Think Leiven originally brought up the point.

What I think we'll do....?

Gordon Bain de Vries means we're not spending money on a keeper.

Punt Gamboa and buy a right back to replace Lustig.

Loan a left back to cover Tierney.

Not sign a centre half.

Let Roberts leave. And loan a replacement who can cover left and right.

Let Armstrong leave and buy McGinn from Hibs.

Let Bitton go. Sign Rogic on a new contract.

Punt Kouassi on loan.

Re-sign Edouard on loan. And hold on to Dembele for one last season.

It'll be absolutely criminal if we go into another season with Boyata as our main centre back. We would deserve all we get. Apart from that id take the rest in a heartbeat.
Edouard on loan? :ponder:

Get him signed on a permanent deal!
Not saying that's what I'd do but I reckon it'll be a similar deal to Roberts.

PSG will ask us to meet the agreed fee. We'll eff about and look to introduce new add ons etc and in the end we'll just reloan him.

Was Shinnie not a half decent left back by Scottish standards before McInnes chucked him into midfield? Sure he played there for Inverness when Aberdeen signed him.

I'd take him as back up to Tierney.

We have a lot of work to do this summer but I’m sure we have been aware of this well in advance. We knew the situations with Armstrong,Roberts, Rogic & Dembele a year ago. We have tried to fix the defence on the cheap but this has clearly been a complete waste of time & we are back at square 1. Lustig also urgently needs replaced. To spend in excess of £20m this summer is hardly a big ask considering the 2 years CL money & the Virgil bonus. If Dembele & somebody else go this window it wouldn’t even be a net spend ffs. It’s not a case of spending for the sake of spending but because we really need to. We don’t need any more £1m defenders or any more young projects. Sutton is bang on when he says our recent recruitment has been very poor. We have had the time to plan in advance for this window & we have the funds to do things. The last 3 windows have been a huge disappointment & as a result no progress has been made on the park.

What we need and what we get will prove to be two different things. I would be astonished if we got 6/8 new players this summer. I don't think we will lose as many players as some think.

Correct, he’d be a good back up to KT. But he’s a very average midfielder, who picks up a ridiculous amount of bookings.

Bitton's got no interest in going anywhere else from his previous comments.

Sort Rogic first, then Edouard and build from there.
Jings, I'd forgotten all about Bitton! If he's happy to stay and 'fight for his place' (ie, accepts he's not a first pick) then we should keep. We'd be lucky to have such a good, versatile player available on those terms.
