I don't have the active dislike of Commons that many on here seem to have but I don't think he's cut out for this punditry stuff.
Some might say he's the perfect choice.

I had a brief read at Common's comments on Compper - what utter nonsense - he's basically written him off as being a 32 year old he won't be able to keep up with the training regime - I assume there are no 32 year olds playing at a top level anywhere?
I used to like Commons, but since he's moved to the media he's shown himself up as a clown.

just saw Pique has signed a new 4 year deal with Barcelona - he's 30 just now - his buyout clause is £440million - wonder if Commons reckons he'll be able to keep up in training

It's sad and quite pathetic to see Commons going down the Uncle Tim path many on here predicted would mark his retirement. We all knew he would be courted by MSM, being all too cosy with them throughout his Celtic days and being reasonably articulate (comparatively speaking); and despite 'getting it', we just knew he would toe their line.

I quite sure we've all criticized Celtic at one stage. It would be more frequent if we got paid for it. I don't think he's being out of order, just public.

Had Commons looked after his body the way Comppare appears to (diet etc from the snippets we've read) then maybe he'd still be pulling on the Hoops and not talking shampooe in the media.

Comppare at 32 is probably fitter now than Commons ever was.

Neither do I, but I'm getting there. Guy probably had a semi when he heard Compper was injured.

Lubo joined Celtic aged 33 and Commons even though he was decent couldn't lace his boots

Both the Record and Evening Times really going overboard in their coverage of all things sevco over the past few days. Praising their loan signings and elevating Murty to some sort of tactical genius/saviour status whilst downplaying the potential selling price of our own players. You would think they had some sort of agenda :suspect:
Tbh some posters on our threads are guilty of this too. I've read on here folks saying armstrongs never a 10 million pound player. Boyata a a couple of million and the way dembeles playing we will do well to get 20 million etc etc
Armstrong’s never a ten million pound player. Anyone believing that is in the loonball category.
I certainly won't be correcting any EPL chief execs that come in with that valuation.

Never mind his opinion on stuff - he strikes me as being a poor broadcaster.
Commons invariably sounds nervous and is often tongue-tied and is one of these folk who rolls out clichéd lines left right and centre - mixing metaphors and occasionally talking outright gibberish.
He may have a decent career doing this - because he can be controversial - but he'll be going down a similar line as Walker, only Walker can at least string a few words together.
Scott McDonald by contrast is WAY better and of some of the new guys in the media strikes me as being a natural and has a decent future ahead of him...

I'm genuinely annoyed with Commons :nono: Both he and his wife appeared to buy into the club and what it stood for and I thought he would provide some good football analysis and at least back the club he played for. Unfortunately, just like Walker, he has became another crawler who would say anything to appease his employers and slander our club.

Totally agree. Commons does not come across well nor does he present his arguments in any coherent way.

A headline on the front page of today's Evening Times:

"Driving rap for ex-Celt"

It's Pat Crerrand.....who left Celtic in 1963

Commons is absolutely entitled to his opinion. However he should have made enough money from the game and us in particular, that he shouldn’t have to chase money, unlike some players from previous eras.
In terms of his punditry he comes across as pretty nervous and almost tongue tied.
Like many he never really says anything fresh or insightful, so he will probably have a gig for life
