So, has she not effectively committed a crime?

Only if she had said it at or on the way to a football match.

That is how bonkers the law is in Scotland.

Another sob story from a person who is only sorry they get caught out. Absolutely no sympathy for her.

A row over a Celtic cake saw Rangers fan Ruth Gilfillan demoted from rank of Detective Chief Inspector

The 45-year-old law and politics graduate will see her salary plummet from £55,000 a year to £38,000.

My heart bleeds
Headline is “row over Celtic cake” but the story goes on to point out she made comments about child abuse and catholic schools.
I think that should be the thing getting highlighted here!

Typically hun bullshampoo to make jokes about child abuse, stupid bitch should be sacked.

The headline was written to twist the narrative into something trivial.

And we should always be mindful of gender based insults and language like ‘bitch’ when criticising someone well worthy of criticism

Only thing missing from that 'report' is an excusing line saying she has catholic friends.

I take it she hasn't been put on any diversity or equality training following this or it would certainly have been in there, or is not that needed when it's anti Catholic stuff? :nono:

Maybe they can get the SFA compliance officer to look at it.

Oh and how they laughed at the banter. Was a member of Strathclyde's finest in the 80s. From their royal blue strips for the force fitba team to their masonic rings and handshakes, from their pished drink driving (no problem brother) to their gid presbyterian promotions...bigoted to the core. They had a bit of sport with me... I was just a kid, they thought it a laugh that I be the lead officer in the Orange Walk....oh the banter! I doubt there is a more hunnish organisation. And to think Patrick Hamill was the CC at the time...both of us slipped through the net!

This officer should have been sacked. Trafficking involves abuse. How can any witness have any confidence in her given such a comment?

It would be a totally different story if she had made an anti-Muslim type remark  Oh, I forgot, its only "banter" when it has anything to do with Catholics :nono:

So, has she not effectively committed a crime?

It hasn't published what she actually said and so we cannot answer your question, but seems likely that she did from the description and whole circumstances.
Making sectarian/racist remarks in the work place is gross misconduct every day of the week and twice on a Sunday.
She should have been sacked and it's an effing disgrace that she's been allowed to stay in the Police. There's an issue of public confidence to consider here. She is clearly unsuitable for the job.
Disgraceful leniency.

And that's what's wrong with this country until people stop spouting there bile then when caught out say it was only banter naw it wasn't and to think people like this hold high ranking positions in today's society makes it all the worse.

In two minds about this - she should absolutely have the book thrown at her but human trafficking is a real problem and if she's as good/innovative as they suggest then it's a shame that her hate fuelled stupidity impacts on that.

It's also an outrage that the officer who complained should suffer in any way.
Human trafficking has at it’s heart the exploitation of the most vulnerable in society. She is a supposed expert in the misery and criminality of that exploitation.

She, of all people, should realise and be nowhere near the abhorrent perpetrators of the paedo narrative. In 2 minds? Appears pretty unequivocal to me.
