What other high profile business men and celebrities based in Scotland were implicated in the Paradise Papers? The Mrs Brown's Boys cast, Desmond .... Anyone else?
Edit: I understand that Desmond isn't based in Scotland or even the UK technically but humour me

I've seen the picture. It's fairly easy to see that DD is deemed newsworthy in this country because of his link to Celtic. It's also fairly easy to see that the tax story itself has nothing to do with the finances of Celtic. No big deal.
if you saw the photo then why do you think the words "celtic football club" appear dead centre of the shot? it's obviously not a coincidence so shirley that's a smear against celtic. and why not shove a mic into his face when he's getting his golf clubs out his car before a round of golf instead of when he's walking into celtic park for a cl match? do you seriously think this wasn't a media led exercise in whatabouttery? Playing devil's advocate he is more famous as a Celtic shareholder than as a golf player. Assuming Daly's primary aim was to get a good photo to accompany his story...

Darren Cooney(is he not the top man) in the record has made up a list of footballers that got booed playing for their countrys. You will be surprised to learn that he's came up with 4 rangers players, a rangers supporter, wayne rooney and Fred.
The list Jack Wallace Black Butcher Gary Mc Alister Rooney Fred
No mention of Pique
Was he playing for his country though? Molt bé.

That doesn’t mean that his tax issues are a smear story about Celtic’s taxes.
It’s easy enough to differentiate.

This is also about whether you give Daly the benefit of the doubt based on his previous journalistic record. I understand that some wouldn't. But trying to recast what he did five years ago to back up a guilty verdict on him now, that seems to be pushing it a bit

You would think it is easy enough to differentiate for someone with an average level of intelligence, but when Douglas Fraser lists Celtic as avoiding tax, then quickly deletes it, then, to me, there is something at play.

I don't have a huge amount to contribute to this conversation, but I do believe the vast majority of Scottish people would struggle to pick DD out of a line-up of 2 people that included Wesley Snipes.

you'l burn the tyres on yer grifter backpeddling like that. If you mean 'back pedalling' (do you??) I am not doing that. My devil's advocate post was pointing out the two basic positions on this. That Daly had a legitimate story on DD's tax affairs. And had also a legitimate link to Celtic. Then I asked if this was the only reason (people here call it Agenda) why he used that specific photo.
I think the truth lies somewhere between.
It was a completely legit story and so was the link to our club considering who DD is. But that specific photo centring on 'Celtic Football Club' is disturbing. I do think that Daly was - possibly subconsciously - adding in a bit of 'balancing up' with the Sevco tax stories, though only he can say. But he is on record as having been really scared by those crazies after the 'Men Who Sold the Jerseys' doc, so if he was subconsciously trying to get them off his back is that not understandable?
I am a writer living in England. Scotland seems a perilous place to be an honest writer or journalist in these days. I'd judge Mark Daly one of the few good uns you have got up there!

it's not really. it's muddying the waters simple as that. DD's tax situation is seen as newsworthy because of his involvement with Celtic. If you think that's a deliberate muddying of the waters, then I guess everyone discussing it on here (particularly in "Celtic" threads) is also complicit in this smear campaign against the club.
Or maybe people recognise that things don't exist in a vacuum, there is a Celtic angle that makes the story worth discussing even though it isn't anything that directly involves the club.
I think you and a few others are being a wee bit over-sensitive because this is a tax story. We don't hear these "smear" accusations against the BBC when they mention any other non-Celtic stuff that our players/club officials get up to.
