Podcast was really really good. Well done those involved. Great to get a more in depth look into the workings of the club. Lawell really hates the huns and loves getting a dig at them at every opportunity Never mentions them and loved the bit he talks about the expanded EL and says it will really benefit clubs like Hibs, Hearts and Aberdeen His dig about no substance PR was a belter as well ![]() Doesn't even need to try. The digs just flow

Fair play to the guys for getting access to Lawwell to do the podcast and for getting him to talk directly to our support and sharing it with us. But I thought it was a masterclass in him not really saying much for 40 minutes. I don't expect a Celtic Chief Executive to ever put himself in a position during these type of things where he says something that puts him on the defensive, or reveal something that is confidential. Of course I don't. But I am not sure what we already did not know having listened to it? The stadium, hotel and museum stuff. Opposition to parking plans. Flowery, unspecific talk about what the EL and/or CL will look like in six years time that we've heard half a dozen times before. Endorsement of Ian Maxwell. Brendan is happy. I wanted to hear what he, as a member of the ECA, actually felt about the changes that come in to the CL from next season. How HE feels about us now having to play EIGHT games before the end of August merely to qualify for it. Is it reasonable in his view? I would have liked an insight into how these decisions get made, because he sits at the table when they are being discussed. Is it simply about bunging the lower lights some more money? I wanted to know if he feels there's a tension between what the ECA stand for (that he is part of) and the European Leagues set up, that Doncaster is involved in. I would have liked to have heard a bit more about their plans for Celtic TV, and whether it can be scaled up to be a real earner for the club. Something about the club's youth development model and how it fits with Project Brave. He was stand offish about the TV deal, and said virtually nothing about the league building a brand as opposed to the club. Don't get me wrong the club is HIS concern, he is answerable to shareholders and supporters. But if Scottish football is going to be our environment for the foreseeable future, then it would have been good to hear if we support any plans to beef up the central marketing or commercial activity in favour of attempting to increase its footprint and central revenue streams. Because ultimately that is what has led to the success of other successful football leagues wherever you look. And finally, governance. We didn't hear much about that. Scottish football will ultimately only thrive if clubs own governance is of an acceptable standard. Financial governance, youth development and facilities must incrementally improve over time. |

Would have loved someone to ask a question along the lines....."Following on from the slightly underwhelming Ronny Deila managerial reign, the board pulled out all the stops and paid big money to get Brendan Rodgers in. Since then, we've gone from strength to strength and revenue has increased and the fans are very happy. Considering Celtic have suffered heavy defeats in CL ties last season, shouldn't that ambition be matched in player acquisitions to shore up the defence and push to the next level" |

or if that's not the plan and we continue to just make up the numbers in the CL, should the cost of the CL package be reduced accordingly? |

It might have been good to hear PL's views but he is CEO of Celtic and as such is representing the board. He's way too careful and professional to conflate the two Whyte, Green and King on the other hand

I would loved him to say 'John Greig's a Bastard', but for some reason Remy didn't push him on this one He's CEO of Celtic PLC a Multi-Million pound business, on high level committees at UEFA (ECA, PFSC, etc.) so do you really think he would come out in public and say what you wanted him to say. We would all love to be a fly on the wall of the inside thoughts of CFC, but getting these put on record via a Podcast is never going to happen

Waddell: "It’s about money, and how they can get their hands on more of it now. Not tomorrow, not at New Year, not after the split. Now". Rangers are only cutting Celtic’s allocation so they can get their hands on the money NOW – Gordon Waddell The Sunday Mail’s chief sports columnist believes the ticket move is all smoke and mirrors. I find the equivalence of orange and fenian to be quite troubling. The Orange order is overtly a sectarian organisation. Calling someone a fenian bastard is like calling them an Irish/Catholic bastard. Calling someone an orange bastard is more like calling someone a Nazi bastard or some similar thing. It's not really the same thing. |
