Misquoting Jock Stein & describing him as 'An East of Scotland man' should be bankier's last words as Celtic chairman.
Bankier GTF
The "East of Scotland" thing was embarrassing, although it probably went right over the heads of his audience last night. The mis-quote was not a major deal, he said club instead of football. I don't know Bankier from Adam, or what kind of person he is, but I'm not inclined to join a lynch mob over his speech.
Burn bank, Hamilton very much in Lanarkshire. Bankiers mistakes were cringe worthy, talking about a Celtic and football legend and made a complete mess of it. Embarrassing, no real Celtic fan would have got that basic fact wrong. It was on autocue. Perhaps they got it wrong.

The quote or misquote to me was neither here nor there, had basically the same meaning, and certainly wasn't the least bit embarrassing in my view. We just won a fans' award, the GB declined to attend the presentation, so the Chairman had to step in. We should be happy about this award instead of finding negatives.

I'd be willing to bet there are thousands of Celtic fans who don't know where Jock Stein was from. Really? Seriously? Find that difficult to agree with. Maybe they should learn the history as sung about in our club song? HH.

Agree, the east of Scotland comment was what I found embarrassing. Delighted we won the award, maybe should have let JP collect award and speak, bet he wouldn't have made that error.

This year’s annual Green Brigade food drive will take place before the match at home to Kilmarnock on Saturday 28th October. This will be the 5th consecutive year we have organised a collection at Celtic Park, and the food donations have made a massive difference to the people of Glasgow and beyond at what is always a difficult time of the year for so many. We have invited a total of 8 food banks from different parts of Glasgow to bring vans on the day, and we will be raising money to be distributed to others across Scotland in the hope that we can help as many families as possible in the run up to Christmas. Suggested items include coffee, tea, sugar, biscuits, UHT milk, tinned soup as well as male and female toiletries. There will be various buckets at each collection point for any monetary donations. We will once again be looking to donate some of the money raised to Scottish Action for Refugees (SAFR) who continue to support ‘Hand in Hand for Syria’, and are again running a winter clothes appeal. Funding will help to send a shipment of warm clothes to displaced people in Syria who need them most. Whilst the refugee crisis has less media coverage than ever, there are still thousands of innocent people facing another winter in extreme conditions. Please donate what you can. We as a support have proved time and again how much of a positive impact we can make to the lives of those who need a little help, and since our inception in 1888, have refused sit by and let our communities go hungry. This initiative has become an important part of that and we are always grateful for any donations received, no matter how big or small. “A football club will be formed for the maintenance of dinner tables for the children and the unemployed.” If you're going tomorrow, bring a bag of food for those who need it most.

12 fans invited to walk down the tunnel tomorrow and stand beside Scott Brown as he says a few words about receiving the award before the game tomorrow.
Meanwhile the guys responsible for winning the award will be outside filling up vans with donations for the food-bank.
I wonder what fans will put themselves forward
