It pisses me off the way some folk always have to find a negative in anything good.
I share your pain. Especially as posters on here are always so appreciative and respectful of the achievements of other teams. Congrats to Celtic on the award. The power to vote on the internet is truly a wonderful gift. It's good to see that people made full use of it. The 50th anniversary tifo was impressive. I'm convinced that there is no truth whatsoever in the mischievous, malevolent and scurrilous notion that it was possibly inspired, or even influenced in the slightest, by similar displays elsewhere in Europe earlier in the year. In the same vein, the directors will have been extremely proud and honoured to accept the award and would have made full use of the opportunities it presented to spend time in London exploring that city's myriad attractions. So it's entirely inconceivable that they, or anyone on here, will feel the slightest twinge of envy towards a certain English club who earned over £70 million (more than Real Madrid) during last season's run in the Champions League.
Haha, get it up ye ya wink.

I've read and heard about ten different versions of Jock's "nothing without fans" quote, and if posters were to attempt to post it verbatim without checking I'd bet more than half of you would get it wrong. To vilify Bankier for it is petty imo. So a competent Chairman wouldn't check quotes in their speech were correct?

No its not. He is the Chairman of our club FFS. It is his duty to represent us at these things so he can at least get it right. The quote is pretty simple and etched on many DVD's, books and media articles/commentators over many years. He brought Jock up so at least have the courtesy to get it right. Couple that with "Born east of Scotland" it is a major red neck & embarrassment. It only solidifies how out of touch they are with the ordinary Celtic fan.
What is the actual quote? Without looking. Pages behind the game, I know, but I wrote what I believed the quote to be as soon as somebody wrote that there were as many different versions of this quote as quoters. Or similar. Here's what I wrote:
"Football without the fans is nothing."
I still haven't checked to see if I'm right.

No 'the' in it. You've just embarrassed yourself as a Celtic fan. Hand in your scarf and season ticket at the front door.

This coming from a fan base that sing songs about Loyalist Paramilitaries ( specifically the UVF ) , also seen them with the same Proscribed group’s flag in amongst them, this along with glorifying the murder of Catholics from battles centuries ago👍 Right ye’s are 😂💨I’ll be taking lectures from the likes of that .. nae bother🖕

Supporters will get the chance to pose with the award from between 12 and 2:45pm on a specially built stage at the front of the stadium before Saturday's game against Kilmarnock and will also have chance after the match until 6pm.

The official club account has tweeted and put an article on the offical site about the GB's foodbank collection. As far as I can remember, this is the first time they've done that. Good to see.

Misquoting Jock Stein & describing him as 'An East of Scotland man' should be bankier's last words as Celtic chairman.
Bankier GTF
The "East of Scotland" thing was embarrassing, although it probably went right over the heads of his audience last night. The mis-quote was not a major deal, he said club instead of football. I don't know Bankier from Adam, or what kind of person he is, but I'm not inclined to join a lynch mob over his speech. Burn bank, Hamilton very much in Lanarkshire. Bankiers mistakes were cringe worthy, talking about a Celtic and football legend and made a complete mess of it. Embarrassing, no real Celtic fan would have got that basic fact wrong.
