A Hearts fan of my aquaintance absolutely raging, "terrorist sympathisers, attacking people on the pitch".

"attacking people on the pitch".

From a Hearts fan.
I was on FF last night - they are apoplectic about it - well truth be told they are apoplectic about all things Celtic - anyway, someone went on about Hatton attacking Mbappe and someone else reminded them that one of their horde attacked Scott Brown - post went uncommented on surprisingly.
FF was a great read last night and very informative. They've got a petition on the go to stop Celtic fans getting the Broomloan Stand at Ibrox and instead, we've to be stuck in the corner like all other visiting teams (appears we lord it over them every visit and an ibrox full of scum will make their players play better). One of the reasons that the organiser gives is that it's just a matter of time before the Celtic fans invade the field and the scum retaliate (obviously to protect their players) - they just don't do irony.

Quoting limited to 3 levels deep
Don't want that sounding sour grapes...we were invited along but politely declined.

Bankier is a terrible representative though, especially on a fan issue. The man next to him should have accepted the award and spoke. Bankier knows little about our club or fans, he even got Stein's iconic quote and birthplace wrong. :ffs: Never mind his previous on fans...

Pleased for the club and fans, I just really dislike Bankier.

I'm utterly convinced that he knows absolutely eff all about football never mind Celtic
Knew this from his first day in the job when he pleaded for Celtic fans to become more like ‘the Tartan Army’.
Utter fud.

Yes, greatly outnumbering the opposition supporters worked so well for them on Sunday so you can see where they're coming from on that one....

This is what it means to be Celtic.
Well done the GB bhoys and all of us together.
It's a time of times for the ghirls and bhoys of Celtic.
Enjoy.
That's rubbish.

Can't get it to fit the tune at all.

 :worthy:

Misquoting Jock Stein & describing him as 'An East of Scotland man' should be bankier's last words as Celtic chairman.

The pitch invasion was mentioned in a post on that thread months ago. One poster said his Celtic-supporting mate had told him that when we win the ten every Celtic fan in Ibrox for the next game will be invading the pitch to celebrate, and that this plan was well-known within the Celtic support. It very quickly turned into FACT and was added to the growing list of concocted reasons for moving us to the corner. It's one of the most hilarious threads I've ever read, the pain and hurt is dripping from the pages.

I've read and heard about ten different versions of Jock's "nothing without fans" quote, and if posters were to attempt to post it verbatim without checking I'd bet more than half of you would get it wrong. To vilify Bankier for it is petty imo.

No its not.

He is the Chairman of our club FFS. It is his duty to represent us at these things so he can at least get it right. The quote is pretty simple and etched on many DVD's, books and media articles/commentators over many years. He brought Jock up so at least have the courtesy to get it right.

Couple that with "Born east of Scotland" it is a major red neck & embarrassment. It only solidifies how out of touch they are with the ordinary Celtic fan.

CGAF what Bankier knows about our history, that's not his job.

On the other hand, he shouldn't be in the position to speak about stuff he (or whoever wrote the words) doesn't know about.

Whatever, it's hardly a sackable offence FFS.

Fantastic news, the BBC has really splashed it all over the bbc football website
... actually they haven’t got a single headline about it
http://m.bbc.com/sport/football
still no story on the BBC website football page
They’re more interested in Ronaldo getting player of the year, which is ok but surely the headline could have mentioned Celtic fans too
And can you imagine the coverage of an english club had won the award?

I don't think it demonstrates much beyond the fact that Bankier is a shampoo public speaker tbh.

Yeah, I thought he spoke well. Regardless of the actual quotation and the excusable slip regarding where JS was born, the main points were made quite well in the short space of time allotted. Nice to see JPT up there too...
