Quoting limited to 3 levels deep
Record is using the above in an article, saying Celtic fans are happy with the guy who hit the arsehole.
Even the Daily Record have called it a 'Slap of Honour' on the front page, they (correctly imo) reckon most fans are sympathetic to the older guy.
They have it on the front page?

Ffs, although I shouldn't be surprised.

Whats even the debate here ?

The guy is clearly a tosser/pumpkin/dobber and his stupidity has rightly earned him his punishment.

Celtic will now get the punished for failing to prevent him getting on the pitch, which is annoying on an number of levels but not entirely unreasonable.

Thats all there is to it.
There should be no kind/form of debate on this issue. Simply cannot be defended in any way drunk or not.

He is a wee roaster and should get everything he deserves thrown at him.

Embarrassing to the club & supporters.

Oh well, the jury have returned their verdict - he's a wee roaster / ned - we just need the judge / sheriff to hand down the death penalty.
I've read several newspaper reports (online) and don't recall any reference to previous offending. I may be wrong and, if I am, I'm sure there will be plenty on here only too happy to put me right.
He may also be a first offender, who took too much drink and lost the place.
Whatever the story, what he did was incredibly stupid, that's agreed, but I'd rather know more about him before agreeing to the death penalty and if that makes me a ned apologist, so be it.

I wonder what the guy who threw the punch did when he was 19 (the time of his last offence). I do hope it wasn't for something stupid.
He seen his younger self. Have you ever wondered what you'd say to a younger version of yourself? Maybe he looked and thought, I'd have punched myself in the face to stop me being an idiot.
If it were me I would probably do the same as the gosson and aim a kick at myself and miss. I got the jail at the Celtic V Hibs cup semi in the 70s. Anyone who can recall it will remember there was multiple numbers hospitalised at the game and dozens of arrests. I was drunk and shouting abuse at George Best. A very easy target for the polis. I couldn't fight my way out of a palliative care unit. They lifted me while folk around me were bottlin one another. It was my one and only time arrested in my life. For a number of years I had a burning hatred of authority and the Glasgow polis. All over a £60 fine. This young lad could have his life ruined after this. I would give him two weeks in Barlinnie and a one year ban from Parkhead and leave him alone after that.

The jury doesn't have to return their verdict - he admitted it.

He ran on a pitch in a match being televised and in front of 60000 people tried to boot one of the best young players in the world, who hadn't done anything to offend us aside from scoring a goal.

It's easy to condemn that, and the fact the boy was greeting in court it suggests he knows he made a carrot of himself.

Defend away, though.

Both the guys are clearly roasters. Running on to attack a player and punching a defenceless man.

They're also awaiting reports before sentencing so no doubt any previous misdemeanours will be known about and be taken into account.

I would expect a fine as community rehabilitation won't be an option as he lives across the water.

I'm not disputing what he did, all I'm saying is that this might just be a total aberration on his part - I don't know and the newspapers don't seem to have picked up on a life of crime.
As far as I'm aware, the incident wasn't broadcast, yes the crowd all saw it and I genuinely believe he had no idea what he was doing on the pitch and what his intention was. Maybe he thought Mbappe was Neymar, I don't know, but to me it seemed once he got on to the field he had no idea what to do and then thought he needed to do something, so had a fresh air kick at Mbappe.
I'm not defending what he did and I know he knows he made a complete carrot of himself, but, maybe, it was completely out of character - I don't know and nobody has put me right yet.

Hearing that the guy who punched the pitch invader on Tuesday will not get banned by club.

Quite right. Should be given a season ticket refund and be allowed to punch the numpties on here who had a go at him. :ph43r:

Seeing as no one knows him personally and our only experience of the guy is him being a complete and utter dick, maybe the onus is on you to prove he's not a effing arsehole. Not sure why you are waiting "to be put right" by anyone else on here.
